Hicks' slash line with Baltimore is .364/.488/.667 good for an OPS+ of 220. Essentially Babe Ruth in his prime. Okay, only 41 PA and of course he won't come within a million miles of those numbers for the season. But had he stayed with the Yankees there is no way he even would have had a run like that. Impossible. So does this mean he's capable of playing well if he puts forward some effort? Was he really just sulking and going through the motions with the Yankees? I don't know the answer to that, but it’s pretty sad if that was the case. Hicks last 7 games in NY: .353 .450 .647 with 1 HR and 4 RBI…Freakishly Solar to his Baltimore production… Thanks for posting this inger. I thought Hicks was starting to swing the bat better at the end of his tenure with the Yanks, which made the timing of his DFA so surprising, after they held on to him during all the lousy periods.
