I wonder why all the Twitter chatter about sending Volpe down has stopped? I don’t know, but I sure wish he and Wells had gotten together a month or so sooner… A smart organization would have sent him down, readjusted his mechanics and had right back up again and he would not had to go through almost two months of being one the worst hitters in baseball.

I agree. And I also feel that Peraza should have been up. If he was hitting at all he could now be at third base instead of the dark cloud that seldom brings the rain…

A smart organization would have noticed, identified, and made the adjustment before there was any rumblings about sending him down. I just learned last night that Nolan Ryan never worked with a pitching coach until he was traded to the California Angels.

“If you’re not in the zone for a long time, you got this (small) of a window. When you’re able to lengthen that window you have, so now even if I’m looking for 95 and he throws 97, if my bat path is back, I can still drop the ball to right field. If I’m sitting fastball and I get an off-speed pitch, I can still get some length with my bat to get through it. That’s what we’re seeing now. It’s almost like he’s ready for any pitch and he can cover everything because he’s in the zone early and long through.”
Something that was discussed here many times.
