one day doesn't cure his struggles....lets see some consistency. He hit a mistake pitch and was gifted a double on a error by Nimmo. He needs to eat chick parm everyday if that's his wonder drug.

We had chickparm a couple nights ago. Probably going the easy route tonight. Maybe some popcorn chicken and fries. I have to take it easy on the fries, and even a little easy on the chicken (because of the breading), but that’s alright… Finger foods go good with the game. A little bit of BBQ sauce on the side to dip in. You know my brand…

When he did that at the start of the season, I thought he was going to steal 50 bases and bd a force at the top of the lineup…

Now I’m just hungry for some chicken parm. Me too. When is that not a good choice? It was Sarah's favorite order at an Italian restaurant. By contrast, I have never eaten it in a restaurant. I have a weakness for eggplant, seafood, risotto, gnocchi, osso bucco, Marsala, and pasta.

When he did that at the start of the season, I thought he was going to steal 50 bases and bd a force at the top of the lineup… That's before his left hip started flying out early, trying to "hit strikes hard," which is the Yankees' hitting philosophy. They even changed the manner in which Volpe stole bases and disrupted the pitcher's concentration. More concerning is that Paul O'Neill noticed the mechanical flaw a looooong time ago, and it still took Volpe and Austin Wells to notice the difference in his stance and effect a change. Where the hell are the hitting coaches and what are they doing?

In fairness, his number-sake Brett Gardner only hit 228 .283 .299 .582 53 38 in his first season, a 42 game trial. Yet he made me an instant fan by always seemingly doing “something” positive. Some days, he stole a base (13/1). Some days he made a stunning play afield, or just pinch ran and scored on a hit. I see a lot of that in this young man too, minus the “fly swatter” of Gardner’s youth. Yeah, I wanted Peraza on opening day, but if was obvious Volpe had the attention of Yankee management. Yes, I might have sent him down three weeks ago to get him straightened out and brought Peraza up to fill his shoes at SS. But he’s here. I’m rooting for him and I hope this little Chicken parm dinner with Wells pays off. If not, I’d still consider making the switch for his betterment, the team’s and Peraza’s. I’d worry about who plays where when the chips fell…

Apparently they aren’t watching the games or they figure Paul is just some old goat in the booth that never played baseball, or even worse didn’t care if he hit home runs out not and wanted to get hits and draw walks to get on base…not the Yankee way any more..
