I have to agree, not that I don't think Vlad isn't a good player, but the Yanks should focus on the pen and third base first. I'll take any impact bat whether at first or third and Vlad fits the bill. I didn't like Damon or Verdugo before they became Yankees either.

Agreed, but I'm not sure what player(s) the Cubs might want from the Yankees. Bellinger has an opt out after this season. The Cubs need a Catcher and the Yankees do have Catching depth (Trevino, Rice, Wells, Narvaez, Ramirez). No way I trade Ramirez ... I'd give Trevino or Narvaez in a heartbeat, probably not Rice or Wells. it would be a very tough decision Last 5 seasons Bellinger is a .241 hitter with a .728 OPS ... he's very risky at that salary I know what you're saying, but if I'm a Cubs fan I wouldn't want them to take anything less than Wells. As a Yankee fan I wouldn't trade Wells unless Bellinger agreed not to opt out, and the Cubs pay half his salary.

For what it's worth a friend told me that he heard that the Yankees are scouting the Cubs, speculation is they are interested in Bellinger. Cubs are also looking for a 3B with some pop. Since Gleyber is in his "walk" year, I'm confident they'll be in on the bidding to bring him back when he hits FA. Agreed, I think they might even try to trade for him depending on where they are in the standings.

I’d hate to be forced to root for Vlad… Would love to see the Yankees trade for Miller, but he will cost a lot, so would Vladdy.

I’d hate to be forced to root for Vlad… That trade ain't happening IMO. Weirder things have happened, but I can't see the Jays trading him to a division rival.

Vlad has said repeatedly that the Yanks are the one team he would never want to play for. The Yanks would be foolish to try to force a square peg, albeit an extremely talented hitter, into the round hole. I can't blame him for being mad at the Yankees, because I recently heard via Michael Kay that the Yankees had a deal with Vlad Sr when Vlad Sr. became a free agent. George nixed the signing because he wanted to sign Sheffield.
May he rest in peace, but that was another mistake by George. Sheff was a good player, but Vladdy was an excellent player.

In my opinion, even though the Yankees have other needs, making a fair trade for a player like Vlad would be hard for the Yankees to pass up.

I think this is a great trade for both sides I think the Yankees are betting on an offensive resurgence from Gleyber and I don't think they move him. They struggle against LHP and need Gleyber and DJ to both pick it up.

I think this is a great trade for both sides Trading Bellinger for Gleyber, a player headed to FA, doesn't make a lot of sense for the Cubs unless signing a new contract with them was a requirement. Also, couldn't expect Gleyber to take over at 3B in the middle of the season. Makes more sense for them to sign him as a FA, with the understanding that he'd be moved to 3B in '25.

If he does, Yanks would be more interested in resigning him.

I believe Belliinger has an opt out next season and so far he is not living up to his contract ... The Cubs get their Gleyber back and have an opportunity to negotiate a longer term deal at a discount Yankees get a guy who has always wanted to play for the Yankees at a position of need ... he waives the opt out and hes our 1B/CF for the next 2 seasons , he and Dominguez replace Rizzo and Verdugo

As I've said many times, I believe Gleyber is best suited for 3B, but moving him to a new position mid-year isn't ideal for either team.

If Bellinger is having a down year why would he opt out of a deal that gives him 53mm over the next two season unless he thought he could get more? I don't think the Yanks want to take on that kind of a financial responsibility, particularly if they are serious about trying to resign Soto.
