What is an AQI? That tells you something about me. With the right monetary inducement, I'd gladly move to where there's great BBQ or other culinary delights. St. Louis -- like Baltimore, Buffalo, Detroit and other once-great cities -- has suffered a long steady decline. Which means it has many wonderful old buildings and cultural institutions and a lower cost of living and traffic isn’t bad. I always have affection for the ageing beauties. But the population has declined from almost 900,000 in 1950 to less than 300,000 today. That's the steepest decline of any major US city. Between 1870-1920, St. Louis was the fourth-largest city in the US. Nice suburbs, like those other slow-death cities. If architecture matters to you -- it does to me -- St. Louis has some significant buildings and public spaces -- the Arch, of course, which is really amazing when you're there, one of the great train stations in Union Station, Forest Park, which is where the 1904 World's Fair was held, and the Wainwright Building, one of the most significant advances in skyscraper architecture and actually the main thing I wanted to see on my first visit there. And naturally a fun downtown stadium. But a lot of problems. More than most cities IMO. And I'm a fan of the place. Anyway, my overblown two cents on St. Looey. Nice place to visit but.... It really is a shame. Lots of crime. My father's and grandfather's favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals. They were listening to the games on the radio in the 1920s and 1930s, with Jim Bottomly, Frankie Frisch, Pepper Martin, Chick Hafey, Ripper Collins, Burleigh Grimes, Paul Derringer, Jesse Haines, etc.

Man, Flaherty just threw a 91 mph cookie right down Broadway, and Bauers fouled it back. And, another at 93, on a tee, fouled back.

KMOX in St. Louis reaches most of the US and especially in those days was how most people connected to the game. St. Louis was the furthest West major league city until the mid-50s and had a huge fan base. As Michael Kay noted, second only to the Yankees for championships. And maybe second to the Yankees for the best uniform, mostly unchanged since 1921.

Except for DJ leading off the game, the other three hits have been with two outs.

Inger what are you even referring to? They won their last 3 series 2 against teams in the playoff race and are 6-4 in their last 10 and have cut the deficit behind Baltimore to 3.5 in confused how the team hasn't gotten better once Bader came back ? They obv need Judge back but they don't look as much of a disaster this past week or so and are heading in the right direction. With Baltimore coming up next they have a chance to be tied or even pass them by the asb. I mean I'm feeling pretty good right now? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I’m looking for consistency, Anthony. Wd look good one day and horrendous the next day. Even against bad teams like today. The starting pitching is still such an important part of baseball. And since you set me up, it gives me a chance to moan about our defense this year, too. The Cardinals fielding % is .989. Ours is .984. That doesn’t sound like much, but it means we’ve made Almost 50% more errors, like 29 vs. 43 or so… it shows today. Throwing the ball into RF. I think Boone has turned a good defensive infielder (Cabrera) into an OF that gets few repitikns in the inf. and fails when he’s given a chance… Yes. I’m channeling Noetsi since he doesn’t show up much anymore, but this team offers some frustration. I was very dissatisfied with the Oakland series because we had no business losing the first game. I’m feeling the same way today. We let bad teams put the pressure on us to comeback and win series. If you do that enough, you lose series… At this point and obviously the trade deadline can change things im not seeing the other teams in the playoff races Tampa Baltimore Texas Seattle Toronto etc looking miles better than the Yankees with Judge playing. Every team is very inconsistent this year and has a record within 4 games from the second seed Texas to the 3rd wildcard Houston. Like I've said before the Rays were fortunate to start 13-0 because they've played about the same pace as everyone else since that start going 44-28 to the Yankees 37-31 a 3 loss difference and they have lost games to the A's and Royals in the last month. I think the AL is wide open right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not to mention, their incredible success. I adore their uniforms. If I were to buy anything other than a Yankees uni, it would be the Cardinals.

Krook has to be thinking, "This is the big leagues?" These plays would have been made at AAA.

Colorful but still with restraint. I like Detroit's Old English D home uniforms. The Dodgers classic script. But the Yankees still have the most tasteful, refined look. When Tiffany designed your logo, you go to the head of the class. Timeless look, like Brooks Brothers.

I'm just saying some years you look at it and say there's probably less of a 5% chance of beating "whatever" team in 18 it was the Red Sox. 19 it was the Astros. 20 I guess it could have went either way. 21 it was the Astros again. 22 Astros. I think this is the first time in about 5 years there isn't a team that looks head and shoulders above all other AL teams. The fact the second seed team and the third wildcard are only 4 games apart. The Yankees record against all these top teams so far is about even. I'm not seeing any of these teams just looking miles better than the Yankees right now and a lot of them have some kind of pitching issue I just hope at the deadline the Yankees can make some proper moves and not just let the rays or orioles or someone else steal some great player and many rely on judge coming back as the savior. They need a real left fielder. I think I would keep McKinney around as a bench piece. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Severino's ERA is up to 6.30 after eight starts. Not what you want in a walk year after missing the better part of 4 1/2 years. Yeah, I don't hear Sevy babbling about his next contract like he was during spring training.

Anthony, you have definitely been the voice of reason to us this season. It's been frustrating since 2009. Anthony is always the voice of reason. Good man. Anthony is definitely our "steady as she goes" guy. I wish I could be that reasonable, but it’s against my nature.
