This year's lineup has the potential to be something special, but what are your favorite Yankee lineups in history? I listed two in the game thread, the 2006 Playoff Lineup and the 1998 Lineup. 2006 ALDS Game 1 Lineup: 1. Johnny Damon CF 2. Derek Jeter SS 3. Bobby Abreu RF 4. Gary Sheffield 1B [img src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/udcwFqPimnXDtjoTmoVL.gif" class="smile" alt="  "] 5. Jason Giambi DH 6. Alex Rodriguez 3B 7. Hideki Matsui LF 8. Jorge Posada C 9. Robinson Cano 2B 1998 Most Common Lineup: 1. Chuck Knoblauch 2B 2. Derek Jeter SS 3. Paul O'Neill RF 4. Tino Martinez 1B 5. Bernie Williams CF 6. Darryl Strawberry DH 7. Chad Curtis LF 8. Jorge Posada C 9. Scott Brosius 3B But my baseball watching only goes back to 1995. I'm sure some other posters can post some great lineups from before then! Or if you're feeling lazy, just pick a year, and I can find the most common lineup for you through Baseball Reference! |

1961 Yankees. My first season. I couldn't wait to get up and read the box score even though I was only 5. Still the first thing I do in the morning.

Those were the days, my friend...The only problem was that Richardson (.295) and Kubek (.306) were low OBP guys (yes, those are OBPs, not BA's), but in the end...did that matter???

Last night, I looked up the 61' team in Baseball Reference and saw how low the OBP.s were. How good would that team have been with Didi and Torres at SS and 2nd? |

Only to the extent that managers everywhere would call out to the hitter to remind them that "a walk is as good as a hit"...I remember a pick up game manager that had a philosophy of hitting the poorest hitters first to "get the outs out of the way"...

Definitely NOT the Best Line-Up...but the Worst, the Funniest, the Saddest and the Most Embarrassing = The 2013 Yankee Team.
We should have just dumped the majority of those losers and go with our Prospects...
I think 2013 is when my hair started to go Grey, losing my hair and when my penis began to shrink...I blame all on these, on the Yankee's 2013 Line-Up & Team.
