Kaybli - you have my sympathy for the Giants and Danny DeVito, who are struggling with a very bad Saints team. The Saints have the easiest schedule in the NFL in the weakest division in professional football. Thanks rizz. Looks like the clock struck midnight for Tommy DeVito and his Cinderella story. Congrats to your Saints. My eldest brother is a pessimist (he says realist, but I've never met a self-proclaimed "realist" that wasn't a glass-half-empty person), and he and I spoke about the Saints yesterday, and he averred that the Saints would not win another game this season. If the Saints' have one thing going for them, they have a lot of talent; they just are a terribly coached team that pays little attention to detail - something that vanished with Sean Payton's departure. A second thing they have to their advantage is since they are in a weak division, they still have a chance to win the division if they win out the last four games. They have the Rams, Buccaneers, and the Falcons remaining. The Rams is the game I am really worried about. The Saints played their best game in a long time today, but the Giants really have offensive line problems. Where was Barkley in the second half? Consolation - the Giants have one of the best looking helmets in the NFL.

I was hoping for a high draft pick but Tommy DeVito led us to a few wins and stopped that idea. It was fun for a while. I'll be rooting for your Saints to win the division!

Many fans do not want the Saints to make the playoffs, wanting them to lose so that Dennis Allen will be fired and be positioned for a higher first round draft pick. As a lifetime Saints fans, I cannot root for them to lose and I do not believe in tanking. I do want Dennis Allen to go though.

I was supporting the Saints for you. I want my Giants to lose out because they are basically out of the playoffs anyway and I want a higher draft pick. Maybe to get a QB or if not a WR. That o-line forever needs fixing too.

Sadly I had to work today and missed this afternoon's Pinstripes (Plus) Bowl, sponsored by Bad Boy Mowers. The ESPN announcer at the end of the game did his John Sterling impersonation.
In other news, I think the Miami football program is in the toilet.

In other news, I think the Miami football program is in the toilet. That was pretty funny. Although it was restrained by Sterling standards. Yeah, Miami finishes 7-6 after a hot start. I see where Florida State is missing 19 key players for its game against Georgia, some through injury but most just sitting it out either because they're entering the portal or planning on entering the NFL draft. This stuff just destroys the bowl games, because the team going out there is not the team you had all season. USC had to play without last year's Heisman Winner Caleb Williams because he's going to the NFL, but the kid behind him making his first start ever set a Holiday Bowl record with six TD passes for a USC victory. Players never used to sit out bowl games just because they hoped to be drafted. It's undermining these games. Penn State's biggest loss was DC Manny Diaz, who you probably know is headed to Duke as Head Coach. That is probably a tougher loss than any player because he is so good at in-game adjustments and is the main reason Penn State had the overall number one defense among FBS teams. Georgia and Ole Miss are devouring players through the portal. It's really out of control.

Bowl games, other than the National Championship tournament of four, are now a joke.

The sport isn't the same anymore with the absurd conference realignments and the tidal wave of transfers, but most of the regular season games are still fun to watch due to the atmosphere with the wild crowds and marching bands. I don't know what the future holds for these non-playoff bowl games with so many players sitting out.

One final thing that I noticed about the Pinstripes Bowl; the two participants, Boston College and SMU will be conference mates next season in the ACC and in the world of college football that we are now in, a team from Boston and a team from Dallas, TX being in the same conference makes perfect sense.

I've heard a lot lately how more popular the NFL is now than MLB and whatever, but at least we clearly know who wins at the end of a baseball game. Did anyone else see the end of the Detroit/Dallas game last night? That was a disgrace and it seems like the boys in Vegas are having a say in how some of these games turn out when see so many strange officiating calls and noncalls.

Did you see Rex Ryan's post game comments? Wow, he didn't hold back at all.

With the Portal and players opting out for the draft, College Bowl Games have really taken a hit.
