I loved watching Dan Fouts and all those talented receivers he had to throw to. What probably made it fun was San Diego's defense wasn't that good, so the game were always shootouts. Classic AFC football on NBC, often with the late great Dick Enberg and Merlin Olsen broadcasting. How 'bout John Hadl to Lance "Bambi" Alworth... lol, a little too much classic for my age.

Chargers made out pretty well, getting their second best QB ever after the great Dan Fouts. Those Air Coryell teams were fun to watch. In my opinion, that offense was ahead of it's time. Coryell always had the look of a madman to me.

Keith Lincoln and Paul Lowe from the early days of the AFL. Big Ernie Ladd. Coached by Sid Gilman. I remember these games being broadcast by Curt Gowdy and Paul Christman and Al DeRogatis.

One of my sons (probably about your age) was visiting over the holidays and I had to explain the history of the AFL...the merger...and the fact that Colts, Browns & Steelers were originally NFL teams moved to AFC. The KC Chiefs were originally the Dallas Texans and the Jets were the "Titans".

I always liked that Cleveland got another football team and kept the Browns name.

I had to have this same conversation with my son a couple years ago when he asked how the Colts and Jets played in a Super Bowl despite being in the same conference.

The "Colts" were an iconic NFL team...the name should've stayed with Baltimore. But it does create some funny situations...Utah is not particularly well-known for its "Jazz" scene.

Well, Steelers take care of business and defeat a Ravens team that was resting several key players, including Lamar Jackson. They finish 10-7 but that won't be good enough to make the playoffs unless either the Buffalo Bills or Jacksonville Jaguars lose tomorrow.

My brother, huge Chargers fan, said as "fiery" as he was on the field (he often got into it with Broncos/Jay Cutler) that he was a perfect gentleman, really nice guy off the field. Rivers was very good, but I would take Fouts without hesitating.

Buffalo could get the 2 seed or finish out of the playoffs entirely.
