Yankees are much better hitters with a competent home plate umpire calling balls and strikes. I may eat these words later, but so far he hasn't made any real mistake. We’ve seen so many 21 inch and 23 inch wide plates this year that a guy that has a16 3/4 inch wide plate seems like he’s the weird one. When that one seem of the baseball “might” have caught the plate, you can hear him “NO”! …

Schmidt cruising with sixteen in a row. Does Boone allow him to come out for the seventh?

Does anyone miss all of the foul ground the Yankees used to have behind home plate? For some reason I have memories of Posada catching foul balls back there.

This is only Schmidt's fifth quality start of the season, mostly due to Boone lifting him unnecessarily so many times, usually with 2/3rds of an inning in the fifth or sixth.

I could get used to this Judge and Dominquez batting back to back.

Should be a spot open now with Donaldson gone but I still stand that he is nowhere near Gleyber offensively and starting Peraza over Gleyber is a mistake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Peraza has the arm to play third base. Neither Volpe nor Gleyber does however. He fits better at third than second to me. This makes the most sense yea. I have to yield to this… as long as Gleyber hits he’s worth the occasional boo boo he makes. Buy when he’s slumping PLUS being a natural disaster in the field… yikes!…

Wells is quieter behind the plate than Higgy, Rortvedt, and even Trevino. He's almost never shaken off.
