Even Cone just said it "Lot of barking out there gotta let it go" I have to admit, I would have a tough time not barking, too. In the midst of competition, it's difficult to remain diplomatic. Mariano Rivera and Bjorn Borg and Marcus Aurelius. Amazing human beings. Nice to see Marcus Aurelius popping up in a baseball thread. Allow me to add Zeno of Citium to the list.

King joining an impressive list. Other than Pineda, those are all brand name pitchers.

After the death of Socrates and the break up of Greek culture that resulted from the Peloponnesian Wars, the pinnacle of philosophy fragmented into three pieces: Epicureanism, Skepticism, and Stoicism. Only the latter deserves mention with the former glory of Greece. Zeno heralded in the greatest range of practitioners from Epictitus - a slave to Marcus Aurelius - an emperor. "Even in a palace, one can live well." Imagine the temptations of Marcus Aurelius - supreme ruler of the then known world - yet he never succumbed due to a manner of thinking, a way of living. The mental discipline is unfathomable.

Not that long ago, Michael King would have thrown 130 pitches and pitched a complete game. Instead, we have this debacle.

Very impressive precis of Greek philosophy Rizz. I feel like I'm back in school when we actually had time to delve into this. Although I can see some attraction to Epicureanism, properly practiced. As long as it doesn't lead to the fourth school of Greek philosophy, Alcoholism.
