Jack Curry pointed toward a possible return for Peralta or Middleton. Both pitchers bring enticing familiarity and recent success. Peralta has been a reliable presence for the Yankees over the past three years, posting a 2.83 ERA in 63 appearances during the 2023 season before a minor left triceps injury temporarily sidelined him. Middleton, acquired at the trade deadline, displayed promising potential in his limited 13 1/3 innings, conceding only one earned run while striking out 17 batters before a shoulder injury affected his September performance. pinstripesnation.com/yankees-prefer-bullpen-reunion-options-over-neris-claims-insider-2024-01-26/

NYY Stats: Entering the 2024 season, Giancarlo Stanton will lead all active players in home runs (402).
That’ll be the fewest by the active HR leader on Opening Day since Dwight Evans and Eddie Murray (379) in 1991.

Bonds was hurt most of 2005, which ended his streak. He then lead the league in walks in 2006 & 2007. Amazingly, he only lead the league twice in HR's, despite being the all time HR king.

I see Billy Wagner, CC and Ichiro getting into the Hall of Fame next year. Clipper Ichiro is a no doubt, but Wagner and CC will be close calls, in my opinion. When I think of Wagner and CC, I don't immediately say yes, and that has always been my grading system. If it's not an immediate yes, they don't belong. However, based on those already in, both are better than others enshrined. If Wagner gets in (I believe he belongs), he’ll be the first left-handed closer in the HOF…

Oswaldo Cabrera's winter stats in La Guaira: 98AB .267AVERAGE 0HR 2RBIs .349OBP If his goal was to make contact and get on base, perhaps he achieved it… The .349 OBP would be a lot more valuable off the bench than what we’ve seen of him to date…

That translates to negative HRs and RBIs in the MLB

It feels like the Yanks pull quality relievers out of their butts every year. Yerry De Los Santos is a popular choice for this year’s breakout bullpen candidate, but who would you highlight as the top candidate(s)? Our own Malachi took a crack at this yesterday, but I’ll give it a shot as well. Will Warren has made the leap from High-A to Triple-A in just two years, and has a strong sample size at the highest level putting him a footstep away from the majors. Before Marcus Stroman was signed he was on the shortlist to contend for a rotation spot, but now it would likely take an injury for him to hop in there out of the gate. However, a callup early in the year to join the bullpen is hardly out of the conversation after his rapid ascent through the system. He hasn’t gone beyond 129 innings in either of his two professional seasons while being a full-time starter, but he could be a strong candidate to take over Michael King’s role as a multi-inning swingman in the back of the ‘pen should he continue his development path so far. www.pinstripealley.com/2024/1/26/24051328/yankees-mailbag-best-remaining-offseason-targets-blake-snell-matt-chapman-relief-ace-will-warren
