MLB.com | Mandy Bell: The awards and honors are starting to come for CC Sabathia. The Cleveland Guardians have announced he will be the newest member of their organization’s Hall of Fame. In the beginning of August, Sabathia will be welcomed back to Progressive Field for a ceremony in his honor and a nice bobblehead to go along with it. A Yankees Monument Park plaque and Hall of Fame induction are likely next on the agenda for the left-hander. (He’ll be eligible for the latter next cycle.)

Never knew Boomer did this. And eventually made a pretty tidy profit too: I was watching the day he wore it. Baseball can be so stodgy. It’s still a Yankees cap…

MLB Trade Rumors: Yankees Designate Taylor Trammell For Assignment The Yankees announced that outfielder Taylor Trammell has been designated for assignment. The move opens up a 26-man roster spot for utilityman Jon Berti, who has been activated from the 10-day injured list after missing the last three weeks due to a groin strain.
In a little more than five weeks’ time, Trammell has been DFA’ed by three different organizations. The Mariners designated Trammell just prior to Opening Day, and the Dodgers claimed the outfielder off waivers a few days later. Los Angeles then returned Trammell to DFA limbo in mid-April, and Trammell found himself quickly on the move once more when the Yankees placed a claim. Trammell is out of minor league options, hence the whirlwind of transactions as teams have had to try and sneak him through waivers in order to officially outright him off the 40-man roster. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Trammell claimed again if yet another club has need for some outfield depth, so the 26-year-old could soon add a fourth team to his 2024 resume.

SNY | Andy Martino: Brian Cashman is under contract through the 2026 season. After that, nobody knows what the future holds. He could re-sign for another stint as the Yankees’ general manager, he could seek an advisory role, retire, go to another team, etc.
The folks at SNY have started to look around for potential and hypothetical replacements for Cashman should he, for any reason, part ways with the organization. Martino talks about Kevin Reese as one of the top options. He wrote that “there is a widespread belief throughout the organization” that vice president of player development Kevin Reese “is the current frontrunner” to succeed Cashman. Per the insider, at least five sources have told him that.
Reese’s experience as a player and eye for scouting make him a logical candidate to replace Cashman when the day comes that he is no longer the Yanks’ GM. Martino also mentions Michael Fishman, Tim Naehring, and Matt Daley as potential alternatives.

NJ Advance Media | Jimmy Hascup: Before Friday’s game, Aaron Judge was hitting .197/.331/.393 with a .725 OPS. Considering we are more than a month into the season and he has finished with 1.000+ OPS in each of the last two years, the collective level of concern is starting to increase among fans. WFAN host Keith McPherson expressed some of those concerns, saying that he is “worried” about Judge’s performance this year and about his long contract.
“It just looks like it’s not gonna be a good contract, and I’m worried about the guy. I love Judge just as much as any Yankee fan. ... I know what the guy is, though, but right now, it’s what he isn’t … his timing, his eye, the strikeouts, something is up.”
There could be some health-related reasons behind Judge’s slump, too. In any case, people are starting to get worried.

Not sure what will happen but I wouldn't mind the Yankees going outside the Organization for his replacement. I think they need a fresh set of eyes.

I wish Boone would have read those last two posts by jiminy. He's sitting Rizzo today against a tough lefty, but playing Oswaldo at first seems like a worse option.

But I thought about and with Rizzo playing and apparently feeling well, Maybe the wet field was behind the decision? …
