Funny you mention that. I've had much the same conversation with others. I've never heard anyone describing the use of "fuggedaboudit" or "yous" (as in "now yous can't leave") as an "educational deficit". Yep, it's nothing more than slang. I must have heard and used the words "yous" and "forgetaboutit" a million times. Being born and raised in Brooklyn, I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say that they were "going to New York" or someone asking me to "take a ride to New York" with them. In my area and in some other Italian American areas, New York was/is slang for Manhattan. We just said "the city"... |

There’s also the free use of the term “African American”. There are so many blacks who come from Latin America. South America. .. I've always wondered...are Elon Musk, Gary Player & Charlize Theron "African Americans"? I knew this kid in highschool, Doug, whose parents were white but from South Africa. He wrote his ethnicity as African American on his college applications and got into practically every Ivy League university.  |

He wrote his ethnicity as African American on his college applications and got into practically every Ivy League university. 😂 Because my first name hints at blackness when I first got into propane my manager would not tell his all white and prejudiced crew if I was white or black. They would ask him every day for the two weeks before I was coming aboard… 😂 Wilmington, DE doesn’t have the best racial situation. I was actually working out of New Castle, a sort of grubby little suburb where the prostitutes roam around. Bullet holes in the ceiling… 😳 |
