Volpe’s base stealing last season from April to June: 16/1 From July to October 8/4. The trend was away from stealing. I don’t know why…
In my opinion, Volpe's slump played a part in that.
I agree. 22 year old rookie playing SS in New York. That's a lot on a kid's plate and once he started slumping, I'm sure his head was spinning so much that it affected other parts of his game. |

Very few TRUE rookie players start their careers the way Jeter did. And even Jeter had some rough spots in the beginning... Swanson and others took a couple years to develop into the hitter he is now. I hope the Yankees don't bail on Volpe and give him the opportunity to develop into the kind of player we are all hoping for. I fear the presence of Peraza might mean Volpe has a short leash...

Worst case scenario is that i see them trading or letting torres go in FA and then move volpe to 2b and put peraza at ss . Either way i doubt volpe is going anywhere anytime soon |

Agree, add to that the Yankee offensive struggles last year which mean't everyone was under the microscope. Easier to carry a young player who is finding his way when the veterans are taking up some of the slack. |
