And people wondered why i said i would be thrilled if just played 120 games or more Playing Judge in center every day might be the dumbest Yankee move since Jeff Weaver. It is going to make for an unhappy Verdugo but I would platoon him and Grisham in center. Less running in RF and Judge will still need games at DH. The org has been a clown show for about 20 years now , stupid moves like this will keep happening as long as cashman is there

Exactly the type of player Yanks should build on & fans should be solidly behind...instead of being vilified and seen as expendable by some.

Yankees Treating Gleyber like Garbage ... guys done nothing but play hard and be a perfect citizen/Yankee unfortunately this is a business. If I had to choose between keeping Soto or Gleyber long term it’s Soto without a question. I also understand that Gleyber is a favorite amongst some of this board but he’s got some elements to his game that are albeit frustrating. Mediocre defense and not the best base runner. He’s 27 now and those types of flaws are only going to get worse as he ages. Not better.

What does "maintenance" mean?
Yeah really, it can mean so many things, like he needs a day off now and then, or therapy before or after a game, etc. Judge had his best year playing CF, it's not like the Yankees are asking him to be a linebacker for the NY Giants.

exactly. he may be in CF opening day but they're gonna keep a close eye on him. i'm sure they'll take care of him. as for "the maintenance", it's probably just some routine therapy. they'll also sprinkle in some DH days and grisham (2 GGs in CF) will see some time out there depending on matchups. before we go crazy, let's see how things shake out.
and why would verdugo be unhappy. he's played about a third of his games in CF and is not good there. he's best in LF.

I heard that Torres would consider giving the Yankees a discount.

I heard that Torres would consider giving the Yankees a discount.
Starting what could be his final season with the New York Yankees, Gleyber Torres was clear about his intent…“I don’t want to leave. I want to be a Yankee for life.” Torres was an All-Star in his first two seasons with the Yankees in 2018 and '19, slumped badly for two years and rebounded to become a productive if not spectacular player. He hit .273 with 25 homers, 68 RBIs and 13 stolen bases last season with an .800 OPS. Torres has a $14.2 million, one-year contract and is eligible for free agency after the World Series. There have not been any discussions about a long-term deal and he understands why the team might be reluctant following two notable players who underperformed: Luis Severino and Aaron Hicks. “We know what's happened in the past, and I don't blame them. That's the business. So if I (have) a really good year and put (up) really good numbers, I think we can get a conversation, for sure. I can't lie. I just think sometimes maybe that I'm starting my last year here because I don't know what's the business plan next year. But, man, it's just like motivate myself. Torres doesn't want to negotiate during the season but hopes the Yankees will consider a long-term deal at some point. He was among the players who arrived early Wednesday and were in their pinstriped home uniforms for photo day, a reminder of the Yankees tradition Torres wants to remain a part of. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/gleyber-torres-enters-final-season-ahead-of-free-agency-saying-i-want-to-be-a-yankee-for-life/ar-BB1iEPuR

I was going to ask how well a base runner Soto is. We all know he is nothing to write home about defensively.

I think you seriously underestimatie the amount of running a center fielder does I've read studies that put it at as much as 5 miles per game with dozens of short bursts, sudden stops and turns. With all due respect to football linebackers, few are still active at age 32, none are as big as Judge, none plays back to back days and none has a guaranteed contract for $360 M. If Cashman thought Judge was a true center rielder, therer was no reason for him locking up Aaron Hicls in Feb of 2019.

Thats why he was so expendable with the twins
