------ Oswaldo Caberia was 3 for 3 yesterday and looked good at short. If he has found his swing (from two years ago), he could hold down the utility infielder spot.------ Oburg Bob I don't understand the concern about the offense from a reserve infielder. As long as the Yankees are good with his ability to field at any position his glove alone should get him the job. On a team that carries a DH who does not field a position you need to have a guy with that level of defensive versatility. There are lots of guys on this roster paid to hit. This slot is for someone with gloves in his locker. That's fine if DJ, Volpe, Gleyber and Rizzo each play 150 games but if either one of them goes down ... It's no longer fine! Cant have him playing 80 plus games with a .570 OPS ... No glove is going to make up for that

They carried role players who could field and / or run and contributed despite an OPS in that 570 area, sometimes less. Andy Fox, Luis Sojo and Clay Bellinger were all more valuable than their numbers.

The Yankees are in big trouble Sojo batted .307 with a .727 OPS in his only relevent season as a Yankee ... so remove him from the list These Guys were insignificant ... Andy Fox had about 50 starts and 210 ABs in 2 seasons with the Yankees. He had 0 Plate appearances in the post season ... He was mostly a late inn def replacement Bellinger averaged 60 games 100 ABs over 3 seasons

He just has to field the ball at a professional level. The Astros had a similar situation in 2022 in center field. It worked out well for them. OPS is not everything,

OPS is not everything, Astros were 3rd in the AL in OPS and 5th in the MLB, they had 6 players over 800 ops and their CF was .678 (not in the 574) and he had 1.7 WAR vs Cabreras -1.7 WAR So if everything goes great for the Yankees they are top 5 in team OPS and top 10 in Team ERA ... then maybe they could win in spite of Cabrera. But why would they do that if they dont have to?

But why would they do that if they dont have to? 1) The Yankees finsihed ahead of the Astros in OPS in '22. The Astros had 4 guys with an 800 OPS or better: Altuve, Tucker, Bregman and Alvarez. The CFers I referred to were Siri, Meyers and Dubon who combined for over 500 pa. None had a 600 OPS for the season. My numbers are from Baseball Reference: www.baseball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2022.shtml) A healthy Judge with Soto in the lineup should get Yankees atop the leaderboard in OPS for 2024. There are other issues. And pitching is the top of that list. If there is any money or are trade pieces to be used...bolster the pitching.

But thanks for proving my point In '22 Chas McCormick was the starting CFer he played almost 120 games and had a .738 OPS ... Houston won 106 games and the WS In '23 Siri, Meyers and Dubon combined for under .600 OPS and the Astros only won 90 games (16 Less) and lost in the playoffs I'm done trying to prove that Oswaldo Cabrera sux ... You win! The Yankees would be nothing without him.

In '22 Chas McCormick appeared in 57 games in center field. His OPS while playing center was signifcantly below that when he played a corner spot, Do you have any idea why ? The numbers are very easy to find. www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=mccorch01&year=2022&t=b

You're making an argument for a Guy that has OPS in the .400s over his last 400 PAs dating back to the 2022 playoffs That's almost impossible to do !!!!!! Just stop it ! He sucksand I wont waste any more time talking about it
