About as bad of a throw you will see from Volpe. You are correct and I am not, Volpe covered, not Cabrera.

The company at my mom’s house is forcing me to switch to NCAA basketball. 🙄. Back to the dots on the phone for me. Kick. them. Out. …

Stroman is doing his part to limit runs. So far offense is not delivering the goods.

Although you can't "assume" the double play, both Volpe and Stroman get errors on that play. Volpe for allowing the run to score and Stroman for the throw out of play giving the batter-runner 2 bases.
Another unearned run for Stroman.

It’s all good. The offense will awaken for the late innings…Yankees 18, Astros 3. Book it…

What the heck was Stroman doing? He got the carom on the throw, and tried to nail Caratini trying to score. E-6 on Volpe letting Caratini score, E-1 on Stroman letting Alvarez, who was not running, get to 3rd. Tucker rolls over on a sinker near the middle of the zone, grounds out to Torres, inning over. Top 6, 3-1 Astros. All 4 runs in this game are unearned. 12 pitches for Stroman in the 5th, 78 through 5. Wonder if Boone lets him start the 6th rather than going to Tully in a relatively close game. Rizzo, Verdugo and Volpe for the Yanks against Martinez maybe. Astros have both Pressly and Hader rested, Yanks better even it soon.

Awful throw by Volpe after a nice throw from Rizzo. What is that, five errors in the series for the Yankees?

Mushinski in to face the lefties, Rizzo and Verdugo.
Rizzo takes a ball. Slow curve gets the zone somewhere. Where? Who knows thanks to idiotic Catcher-Cam™

It is beyond me how major league infielders cannot throw a ball to first base when there is no pressure. Cabera's throw was terrible. Maybe Volpe has an excuse, but his throw was way off base. All three runs unearned. Stroman is doing his job...

The game I umpired today included a team from Commack, LI, the defending state runners-up. They had an 8th grader catching who hasn't developed power at the plate yet, but he has plate discipline and plate coverage well beyond his years. I'll be interested to watch him as he plays 5 varsity years out on the island.

Takes a cutter well high, 2-2 on Rizzo. Abreu warming. He's back after his 2 game suspension. Chases a FB about 6-8 inches outside, foul tips it into the mitt, K, 1 down.
