And this as well:
Yankees' lineup vs. McKenzie:
Volpe and Soto have never faced him. Judge is 0-2 with 1 K Rizzo is 0-3 with 1 K Stanton is 1-5 with 1 K and 1 BB Torres is 1-4 with 1 BB Verdugo is 2-3 Neither Cabrera nor Wells have ever faced him.
===============
Though it's not always the case when a pitcher hasn't faced a team, this time, in addition to Poteet never facing the Indians/Guardians, none of the hitters in their lineup for the 2nd game have faced Poteet..

Oh man !!! Berti to IL and they bring up Kevin Smith instead of Durbin ?!?!?! WTF??? Neither Smith nor Dubin is on the 40-man roster, so that doesn't explain it. Someone will have to leave, possibly Jorbit Vivas to the 60-day IL with his orbital fracture. My guess is that the team considers this temporary and with both players out of options, they don't mind exposing Smith to waivers to send him back down, but would mind Durbin getting snatched from them that way. Maciejwski DFAed to make room for the return of Marinaccio from AAA. He was pitching well in 3 games, 5 innings, 1 hits, 0 runs, 4 K and most importantly, just 1 BB. Smith is not good, but Durbin hasn't played much SS the past couple of seasons.

Yanks win 3-2 despite leaving 9 on base and going 2-11 with RISP. And making a terrible throwing error by Torres giving up the only runs the Guardians got. And despite a typical Schmidt meltdown in the 6th after 5 solid innings. =========================== Yanks win 3-2, back on the winning track after losing the 3rd game to the Marlins. They're 11-3 on the season now, and for the moment, are 2 1/2 up on the O's, 3 up on the Rays, 4 up on the Red Sox, and 5 up on the Jays. =========================== 3rd star of the game: Schmidt for five good innings, anyway. 2nd star of the game: Hamilton, for getting through 2 solid innings with a 1 run lead despite not having his best location. 1st star of the game: Cabrera for the decisive 2 run HR, pretty much the only clutch hit the Yanks got all day. We are tough on Schmidt, but he did only give up one hit in the first five innings of play. Walks drove up his pitch count and created drama. If Gleyber makes the double play throw in the sixth, it's a shutout 3-0. agree. he's a bit of enigma. at times command is an issue. other times has swing & miss stuff. 7 Ks 5 innings including the difficult to K kwan twice. and yeah gleyber didn't help.
oswaldo definitely potg. got a pitch up in the zone and got a wind aided HR. good to see him pick up where he left off. good games for verdugo, judge, rizzo and trevino. pathetic job getting runners in led by grisham.

Schmidt needs to pick it up or he risks being the odd man out when Cole returns.
A decent start, but he walked too many batters.

That’s about as bad as you can screwup a DP… Every player has their own style, but I don't know why on certain plays why Torres doesn't throw the ball overhand.

Sorry I fell asleep and missed the end of the game. Nice outcome, but not the best Yankee effort. That almost happened to me. The Yankees were bringing Holmes in, and they next thing I knew I missed the first 2 outs of the ninth inning.

Rather than pushing off the bag, Gleyber has a tendency to come across the bag and flip a sidearm throw, which is much more likely to sail, as it did yesterday.

His option years expired while toiling in Atlanta's farm system. Option years start expiring after the 3rd (or in rare cases, the 4th) season in a minor league system, whether the team calls a player up or not. Durbin achieved Rule 5 Draft status after last season in December, so the Yanks have to pass him through waivers to send him back down.

Exactly, I'd like to see him at least to try to make a three quarter throw on that play.
