I would have thought Weaver would use breaking stuff early in the count. Odd pitch selection to Florial, combined with the fastball right in the fat of the plate. It’s appropriate that Florial got back at the team that never gave him a fair shot at making. Cashman will respond by resigning Jonathan Davis. |

Oooh, got a cutter to hit, 100 mph just inside middle middle, fouled off. Too bad, that was the pitch.

Soto quickly behind 0-2...
Cutter misses inside by 3-4 inches, didn't "just miss" Flats. Crowd groans for no reason.
And Soto's inexperience vs. Clase shows as he chases a waist high cutter 2-3 inches inside, totally jammed, tapped back to Clase to end the inning.
Yanks still alive thanks to good opposite field hitting by Volpe, which he never would've down with last year's approach, and also thanks to Brennan bad misread on how deep he hit it.
Bottom 9, tied at 5!
