Nestor gets ahead of Hedges 0-2, but lets him get back to 3-2. Cutter up and in but in the zone, it ties up Hedges for the K.
Pitching well, but too many pitches, mostly due to the two Rizzo errors.
Top 3, 0-0. 16 pitches in the 2nd, 37 through 2. He can't go 8 at that rate. Might not go 6.
Cabrera, Volpe and Soto for the Yanks.

2nd straight inning w an error that nestor has pitched out of. 4 Ks. unfortunately add to pitch count.
I'd like to see Cortes mix in a breaking pitch or two when he throws that hesitation pitch, because the last few times I have seen him throw that pitch he's thrown a fastball.

I feel like I ask this question every year, why isn't Elston Howard in the HOF? Just doesn't have any eye-popping single-season marks or career counting statistics. OPS+ of 107.

I feel like I ask this question every year, why isn't Elston Howard in the HOF? Because although his career spanned 15 years, his period of being an outstanding player was just 7 years. His career totals are very low for a Hall of Fame catcher. He passes none of the four statistical markers for the Hall of Fame popularized by Bill James. He's just the 40th greatest catcher all-time via Jaffee's JAWS system. None of the guys near him on that list are in the Hall, except for Rick Ferrell, who was voted for his work as an executive as much as a player., and none of his top 10 statistical comps are in the hall. You could argue that he missed 3-4 prime years because Weiss wouldn't promote him fast enough, but even then, Yagi would've been in his way.

I feel like I ask this question every year, why isn't Elston Howard in the HOF? Howard should be in the Hall of Fame. I don't know why he isn't.
It took Ernie Lombardi a long time before he was voted into the Hall of Fame, and his stats are even better than Howard's.

Cabrera flies to right for the 1st out.
Volpe works a walk
Soto hammers a 2-2 pitch that nearly crushes Volpe, he has to jump to evade, than goes on to 3rd on the single.
1st and 3rd, 1 out for Judge

Allen hangs a slider almost right down the middle, and Judge does what he should do with it: demolishes way way out to left center. 3-run HR, and the Yanks jump in front, 3-0!!!
