Yanks must have something on the Indians on the basepaths. Naylor tries to take off for 3rd for some inane reason, Nestor calmly steps off, throws to 3rd and Cabrera tags him out with a caught stealing. 2nd time this series we've seen a Yankees' pitcher do that.
Anyway, gets Nestor out of a rough inning.
21 pitches for Nestor in the 3rd, 58 through 3. Allen threw 23 in his half and is at 55 through 3.
Torres, Verdugo and Trevino for the Yanks in the 4th.

I feel like I ask this question every year, why isn't Elston Howard in the HOF? A good question to ponder after the game… I frustrate other Yankee fans because I believe that almost all of the team's marginal Hall of Fame cases are "just misses": Munson, Mattingly, Bernie, Posada, Howard and Pettitte. Of these, I think Pettitte might eventually make it because of his post-season resume, but even there, there are some thorough pastings among the gems (World Series of 2001 for example). |
