2-2 on Torres... Tries to time a sharp breaking curve, low in the zone, pops to Guerrero, 1 down.

It's hard to judge Gil coming off of 7 days rest, but I've got to imagine Poteet may be knocking.

Verdugo takes a cutter near the high inside corner for strike 1. It was in the zone. Cutter up and away, 1-1. Grounds the slider near middle to Biggio for out #2. And it probably doesn't matter if Gil finds it or not, because it looks like Bassitt has settled in.

1-1 curve in the zone up and away, tapped to the left side, Falefa cuts it off, wheels and throws out Cabrera, inning over.
Bottom 4, 3-1 Jays. 11 pitch 1-2-3 for Bassitt and he's at 60 through 4. He's good for 2-3 more innings.
Falefa, Keirmeier and Springer for the Jays.

Quickly 2-0 on Falefa. FB just above the top, fouled off, 2-1. FB in the zone low/away, Falefa hits it pretty well to right, but it's an easy play for Soto, 1 down.

It's hard to judge Gil coming off of 7 days rest, but I've got to imagine Poteet may be knocking. Or Warren. But I’d certainly want to give Gil a bit more rope… I wanted Warren out of ST, and the command issue we’re seeing today is the main reason, along with getting Gil some more seasoning…

Keirmeir fouls off a couple of fastballs. Then gets beat on a FB letter high, inside corner, foul tipped into the mitt, K. 2 down

1-1 on Springer. GOOD slider in the middle knee high, swung over. much sharper than the one Kirk doubled on. FB outside at the top at 99, chased for the K. That was at least 3 inches outside.
Excellent inning for Gil. Top 5, 3-1 Jays.
11 pitch 1-2-3 and he's at 85 through 4. Will Boone let him start the 5th? Normally no, but the bullpen is short, so maybe.

Of course, letting someone with command issues sit for 7 days between starts isn't quite optimal.

Wells, Offensive Vacuum and Volpe for the Yanks in the 5th. This is a place where I'd like to see Grisham try a push bunt.

Wells gets ahead, 2-0. Change dives back toward the plate, misses inside by an inch or two, but Kirk yanks it back and gets the call, 2-1 Cutter up and in ties him up, fouled back, 2-2 FB well outside, 3-2 Cutter inside is clearly ball 4, but Wells chases and fouls it down. Late on a sinker inside, hits a fliner to Varsho in left for out #1.
