Sox are at the Pirates later this afternoon at 4:05, Kutter Crawford vs. Mitch Keller.
Paredes fouls off a FB at the top 0-1. Fouls off a cutter in almost the same spot, 0-2. Bounces the change outside corner, 1-2 Change away, tapped off the end of the bat to Jones, throws him out, 1 down.

Why is Grisham batting ahead of Oswaldo? G comes before O in the alphabet.

Flies open and fires a cutter way high to Rosario. Same thing, but up and in, brushing him back, 2-0 Cutter down and in but in the zone, 2-1 FB up in the zone away, fouled back, 2-2 Beats him clean with a cutter above the inside corner for the whiff, 2 down.

Flies open and leaves the sweeper way up and away, 1-0 Cutter ties him up, just inside the inside corner waist high, he pops to Verdugo in left, inning over.
Bottom 2, 0-0.
11 pitch 1-2-3 for Cortes in the 2nd, 20 through 2. At 20 pitches, Schmidt is usually trying to finish off the 1st inning.
Grisham, Cabrera and Jones for the Yanks.

Good start of the day for Nestor… hope it continues… Yeah, so far, he looks like he did in 2021 and 2022.

I got there first, pres: "That inning by Nestor is the Anti-Schmidt Method. Using outstanding command of merely solid stuff, a 9 pitch 1-2-3." And good afternoon.

What a great day to stay in and watch a ballgame. Nothing but rain storms here in and around Dallas with river flood warnings, 56 degrees and 98% humidity.

Grisham worked the count full. He missed a curve down the middle, fouling it off, along the way. Rolls over on a sinker just below middle middle, grounds it to Diaz, who flips to Eflin, 1 down.
The weakness of the depth in the bullpen and on the bench is going to hamper this team until they do something, or until injured guys like Dominguez and LeMahieu get off the IL.
Cabrera gets under a 1-0 cutter at the top, flies out to center, 2 down.

Nice job by Michael Kay in the booth to honor John Sterling. Sterling seems like a class act, even if he sometimes struggles to tell a home run from a double.

1-2 on Jones... Starts the curve at his body, freezes him and it breaks down and over the inner 3rd low in the zone for the ꓘ, inning over.
Top 3, 0-0. Very easy 1-2-3 inning in the 2nd for Eflin, just 12 pitches and 32 through 2.
Caballero, Siri and Pinto for the Rays.
Royals hosting the O's again this evening at 7:10, a GREAT pitching matchup, Corbin Burnes vs. Cole Ragans

Caballero tries to check on a FB high, can't, 0-1 FB on the outside corner is strike 2. Fb wasted way high, 1-2 Fouls off a fat FB down the middle Cutter into the top of the zone away, spoiled. FB about 3 inches above the outer 3rd, chased and foul tipped into the mitt for the K, 1 down.
