Cutter down the middle, which is at least the 4th pitch this inning he's left right down the middle.
Wanna know why he can't go 6? That's why.
Fouls off a sinker low, 1-2
Cutter into the zone hangs above and outside middle, but Bleday misses.
Nelson's comment says it all and says it none at the same time. "That pitch was up in the zone, but...it was effective"
It was effective, Jeff, because Bleday has huge holes in his K zone.

Sinker waist high on the inner 3rd, and Rooker simply crushes it out to left for a 3 run HR and Schmidt is done for today.
Boone reacts too slowly again, letting the A's and their good pen back into this game.
If you're going to need 3 2/3 innings anyway, you might as well get 4 and do it with a 5 run lead.

In the 18 pitches Schmidt through that inning before getting knocked out, 4 were more or less right down the middle of the K zone, and two others were waist high, both on the inner 3rd, including the HR meatball.
