Nice win! The bats finally come back alive. Now go get 'em tomorrow and make it 3/4 before hitting the road.

Series finale is 7:07 tomorrow evening, on YES. The Nasty One goes for the Yanks to try to win a 3rd game and the series. He's having a good season so far, 1-1 in 5 starts with a 3.41 ERA and an outstanding 1.07 WHIP. He's opposed by Alex Wood, the frequently injured left-handed 12 year veteran. He's having a miserable start to his season, 0-2 in 5 starts, just 21 2/3 innings, an ERA of 7.89 and a horrible whip of 2.03.
Starting Friday, the Yanks go on a tough seven-game road trip. Three in Milwaukee against a Brewers team that was expected to struggle after they traded Burnes away and lost Woodruff for the season with a shoulder injury, but is currently in first in the NL Central at 14-8, then the Yanks head into Camden Yards for four games against a very tough Orioles team that has the best offense in the league at 5.65 runs per game, and possibly all of MLB, though the Dodgers and Braves have something to say about that.
I will not be with you guys as I'm going with two former teaching colleagues of mine to visit our old friend and former assistant principal for a late lunch-early dinner thing. I probably won't get home until late in the game, if I get to see any part of it at all. But at least you guys have it on YES, so my game thread PBP is not so important. If I have enough time, I'll leave a preview somewhere, probably in this thread, and let kaybli move it into tomorrow's game thread when it's posted. If I can get home in time, I'll join you for the last couple of innings. If not, enjoy the game tomorrow evening and I'll rejoin you Friday night for the first game in Milwaukee.
That'll do it for me for tonight. See you guys again late tomorrow evening, or on Friday. Good night to all. Bye!

judge ends 8th w hard hit ball DP. good news is he made good contact a number of ABs tonite. 2 nites in a row Perhaps he's coming out of his slump. There are a few players that haven't hit much in April, Goldschmidt being one of them.

Perhaps he's coming out of his slump. There are a few players that haven't hit much in April, Goldschmidt being one of them. Every hitter goes thru ups & downs over the course of a long season...much more noticeable if the season starts with a "slump", and harder to dig out of. That’s the deal. Starting the season out in a slump means everyone notices the minuscule batting average. Taking a twenty game sabbatical in mid season and having the batting average drop from .300 to .270 makes you much less notable. Sort of the same thing with hot starts. “This guy has improved so much!” Well, Oswald Cabrera was never going to bat .365. He’s down into the .270’s now, and we still see him as greatly improved. We’ve played about 1/7 of a season. The marathon winner might still be well back in the pack…
