Yanks can do no worse than split the series with the mediocre A's.
Yanks keep pace with the O's Sox and Rays, who beat the Tigers 7-5. Might gain a game on the Jays, who trail the Royals 3-2 bottom 7 in KC If that score holds, Yanks will stay 1/2 up on the O's, 3 up on the Sox, 4 1/2 up on the Rays, and will push the Jays 1 game back to 4 games behind.

Toro has not faced Hamilton, takes a slider for a strike Gets a sinker up and away in the zone, lines it to Judge, pretty much right at him, easy catch, game over. Yanks beat the A's 7-3 for their 2nd straight, get to back to a season-high 9 games over.500 at 17-8. Qwik, Great Work! Clipper

Good win. Some possible signs of life with the bats. Didn't see it, but Schmidt starting to remind me of Sonny Gray. Gets up 0-2, then nibble, nibble, nibble and something bad happens.

3rd star of the game: Jeff Weaver for 2 2/3 innings of excellent relief, he gets a hold because he came in with a 2 run lead and held it. 2nd star of the game: Soto, for scoring the first run of the game on Judge's HR, knocking in a run with a sac fly, then hitting a HR himself to push the lead back to 3, answering the 3 run HR by Rooker in the next half-inning. 1st star: Judge, for the 2 run HR that put the Yanks up in the first, another single, and two more hard hit balls that were turned into outs. He might be coming out of it, but we'll have to wait and see what goes the next few games.
Honoable mention: Also good to see, Wells, Volpe and Torres, all contributing hustle, smarts and above all, one or two hits each.

Bert Campaneris. I cheated and looked up the 83 Yankees
lol
My initial guess was Bill North, but then I realized he never played for the Yanks and I was stumped.

Clipper! Good to see you in the game thread. Were you not able to watch the game, and had to follow my PBP here? I watch the Yankees on MLB, I don't subscribe to Yes Network, only like baseball not the other stuff that they show. I live in South Jersey, 5 miles from Philly, so I am in a NL city. I haven't been able to listen to a game on radio, since the team left WCBS-AM, due to the Philly radio stations block out the current station. Clipper
