It's early but this is a big series against the club many have predicted to win the East. What do the Yankees have to do on the road to have a successful series against the Birds? If we take 2 of 4 is that enough?

The biggest thing for me is to not lose the series, then you lose ground. Splitting would be like shrugging your shoulders and saying, "OK, nothing won, nothing lost". Taking 3 out 4 would be great, sweeping is unrealistic.

I agree with Chi. Splitting the series wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. But winning 3 of 4 would really be ideal and would have everyone feeling good about the team.

I agree. The Yankees are still without Cole, so if they go 2-2 on the road vs the O's it's not a big deal.

with a one game lead, a split maintains the lead. hoping for 3 out of 4 to extend the lead.

Now the Yanks are going to be without Verdugo, so splitting would be OK.

I’d settle for 5 of 4. Pluck the feathers off those dirty birds. I lived near Baltimore long enough that all I want is to shut the mouths of those Oriole fans. It’s weird how they chirp about the Orioles when they win, but fall completely silent when they lose.
Ideally, we’d win 8 out the 4 games, but yes. I’ll settle for 5 of 4 with Verdugo out…dang, he’s been hitting well, too. I guess he most have been going well last August, too… 🫠

Splitting the series would be satisfactory. If we can continue our hot hitting and get some decent pitching, 3/4 isn't out of the question, and that would be HUGE.

Got decent pitching. Bats seemed to misplace their Viagra, though...

Got decent pitching. Bats seemed to misplace their Viagra, though... A hallmark of recent Yankee teams has been inconsistent offense and poor situational hitting. Even with the hot start, there were a lot of guys not hitting. We were basically relying on pretty good pitching and 3 guys hitting at an unsustainable clip. I've been hoping that some of the additions and growth from young players would result in a more consistent offense. 30 games in, that hasn't been the case. Rizzo, Judge and even Torres seem to be making strides which is a really good thing. Too early to hit the panic button but after a 10-3 start we have been 7-7 in the last 14 games. Both streaks are really small sample sizes so I'm trying not to put too much stock into either but 5 shutouts already is a red flag.
