Jays lead the Royals 5-4, bottom 6 in Toronto. Rays lead the Brewers 1-0, bottom 6 in Milwaukee. If those scores hold, Yanks will be in 2nd, technically tied with the O's for first. Sox will be 2 1/2 behind the Jays 4 behind and the Rays 5 behind.

Breathing issues getting worse. She’s going to wind up on full time oxygen up here and she doesn’t want to move. Not to mention that I don’t know how we could. She’s going for an EKG in a week or two, though we’re not aware of a heart problem. High-altitude living is great if you haven’t smoked… but she did until we got together. About 40 years of three packs a day…

Score 30 runs in two games then get shutout for the FIFTH time this season. Consistently inconsistent.

Game 2 is tomorrow on YES at 6:35 in Baltimore, Dean Kremer, who pitched some excellent games against the Yanks last year, vs. Nestor Cortes, who'll try to take advantage of that deep left field wall with some flyouts.
Sort of a sleepy hangover game for the Yanks, which shouldn't happen in the first game of a big series against the notional top rival. Rodriguez has excellent stuff and pitched well, but not THAT well. Yanks failed in every clutch chance they had. For what it's worth, the advance fielding metrics say that the Yanks have been better than the O's defensively in some metrics and about as good in others. Didn't play that way tonight; O's made several big plays to save runs, Volpe's boot pretty much put it out of reach.
That's it for me for tonight. See you guys tomorrow evening. I'll try to remember to be on time. Good night to all. Bye.

Now I’m helping cook spaghetti because Ruthie is having breathing issues… Has the weather affected her any? No. it’s just a combination of her previous years of smoking and the aging process. The same doctor that told us not to move because it wouldn’t help her last year has now suggested we may need to. I’m willing to do for her health, but she’s adamantly opposed to it. She can live here on oxygen, and would rather do so than leave here… Stubborn woman…

Thanks, Qwik. I didn’t catch up on comments until now… multi tasking… No problem, inger, I know what that's like, as many comments as I throw into the thread. I finally got to sit down and watch the bottom of the ninth without interruption. I thought I was going to in the top of the inning but Ruthie wanted to change rooms and oxygen tanks. She hasn’t caught on to how the connections work, etc… Neither have I, but I can at least figure it out…

He was freezing, even moving backwards thinking Westburg might catch the liner, so he had to change direction to start going, too much for him at this point. Slider low on the outer 3rd, 0-1 Knuckle curve to the bottom in the middle, 0-2 Flies open, missed way up away, 1-2 Rolls over on a curve low in the middle, grounds to Torres for out #1. It's not uncommon for baserunners to freeze on a linedrive in front of them, it is uncommon to then get thrown out at 2b. Sorry, Qwik IMO, he wasn't hustling. Close play, he could have beaten the throw with a little more effort. With Stanton, he's so physically broken down, it's hard for me to tell if he's not hustling. Later on, on the dribbler down 3rd, the "run" to first almost seems like jogging. It's possible that's all he has left. And just think, only two more years on his contract after this one.

I'll be thinking about you both. Thanks, Matt. I suppose this just a part of growing older. The concept of course is to grow old together gradually, and to help each other along that path. It stinks that I’m still reasonably strong and capable and she’s going downhill so quickly. At least she finally listened to me and is using the oxygen some during the day now, as needed. I think she fears having me die first because she’d have trouble being alone. In some small way (or more) I’ve seen people kind of let themselves go downhill with that thought. I hope the oxygen might mean she’ll feel better and want to walk with it on, but there’s no indication of that. She’s just be on it more and more sedentary…

It can be easy to overlook your needs. You seem like a smart guy so I'm sure you have figured that out. Ruthie is lucky to have you in her life and I'm hoping she feels better soon or is able to make adjustments to get the most out of her life. Doctors told me my wife would have to be placed in a care facility, they were wrong. She is still home and doing so much better. Miracles sometimes do happen.
