Cutter outside to Stanton, 1-0
Cutter down the middle for a strike, Soto steals 2nd.\
Stanton works the count to 2-2, then misses another sharp slider breaking out of the zone for the K.
Burnes K's the side in the 1st, same old same old, Soto hitting, everyone else not.
20 pitches in the 1st for Burnes. Bottom 1, 0-0.

Burnes misses with 3 cutters to fall behind 3-0. Cutter on the outside corner, 3-1. Cutter above middle fouled, 3-2. Cutter in almost the same spot, hit hard past Westburg into to right center for a 1 out single. Judge up. I wish the words “Judge up” would become scintillating like they were last season or any of several seasons previous. I swear his approach is more like Stanton’s every day… A concern that he’d get off to a slow start is growing into a concern that he may not get it together again this season… |

I hope that's not the case, and I'm not willing to make that call yet, but it's in the back of my mind. |

Gil starts today with an unusual combination of just 5.1 hits allowed per 9 innings, but a companied by a frightening 6.9 BB per nine innings. His WHIP is over 1.33, but somehow he had a 99 OPS+. He’s learning g on the job, and he’s getting better along the way…

Then chases a cutter well outside knee high, taps it to Mountcastle for out #2.
