Just catching up to replies... Very cool you saw Williams. My father loved Joe D, but always said that Williams was the greatest hitter he ever saw. Williams last year, 1960, he was 41 years old. He only played in 113 games but batted .316 with 29 HRs and 72 RBIs. His OPS was 1.096. Heard in a radio interview that the Yankees tried to get Williams to come out of retirement for the 1961 season.
