I just spoke with Mike on the phone. He got a real charge out of your comments, Matt. Actually laughed out loud. He says hello to you and thanks you for thinking of him. Greeting friends from Mike Domingue (Domeplease) to all on the forum!… I just received an email from Mike that brought tears to my eyes. He's sending me some old books and a check as a token of appreciation for running the board. I told him, with his permission, that I'm going to donate his check to our charity in Dhaka, Bangladesh that will help build orphanages, food banks, and pool money for education for those that can't afford. What a guy that dome is: zany, unique, but most importantly kind and compassionate. I'm sorry our new members did not have a chance to interact with him. Here's to our good friend Mike! I will always be thankful for his friendship. Very touching Kaybli.

Jeez, I've been off the site for a few days and just seeing this news. Sincere best wishes to DoMe, who has been an integral part of this forum for a long time. He has a gift for imaginative humor that has made me laugh out loud on many occasions. Plus his bets on golf tournaments have always enhanced my knowledge of the game. And served as a warning about the dangers of gambling. I'm going to assume the best and hope to see him back here soon. I told him about using speech to text software if its difficult for him to type so maybe he will show up and say hi to us.

Really saddened to hear about DoMe. For those who may not remember, he is a fellow Louisiana boy from Lafayette. The thing I shall always remember most is that when we had the political board, there were those who could not handle the back and fourth and sometimes personal nature of posts. Yet, when one member needed financial assistance, DoMe was there to help, even for a poster with diametrically opposed viewpoints and less than positive responses. DoMe is a live and let live cool kind of cat, who never waivers in his humanity or his courage to take risks in life. DoMe didn't just live life, he squeezed the very marrow out of it and never took himself too seriously. Tequila was certainly one of the most colorful characters ever to perch on this forum. Keep on keeping on my friend. We miss you.

I talked to dome on the phone for a good ten minutes or so. I read him all your kind words and well wishes on this thread and he was very moved. He wanted to convey his thanks to everyone not only for the well wishes but for being a place he would look forward to reading every day first thing in the morning. He also wanted me to give some advice to everyone that "time is your Friend if you use it properly and your enemy if you don't for time always wins."
When we were done talking and said goodbye, he didn't hang up the phone yet and as I was about to hang up I heard him say "what a nice guy" about me to one of his caretakers I presume. That made me feel good. I told him to call me whenever he needs some company just to shoot the crap and he agreed. Just a warm and genuine fellow. I told him about speech to text if he's having a hard time typing and he said he has a computer guy coming so they will look into it. So maybe he will show up on the board again. I certainly hope so.

He was probably getting an ice delivery and said “What? An ice guy.”… 🤓 Honestly, Kaybli you have shown many times that you are indeed a nice guy… make no bones about it. Nice almost to a fault…

I for one can speak of the generosity and kindness of the members of this site. Two years ago I cancer in both lungs and had to have two surgeries. Kaybli and those who around then showed me who they are when they continually checked on how I was doing. They still do today. No one else does. I have told Gloria many times how lucky I am to have found the richness of friends on this site and I've never met any of them. We're all rooting for you Mike, and thanks to you and Tequila for being a part of our little "family". You won't be forgotten.

After what you must have gone through and suffered Matt, I still get emotional thinking about how you pulled through and came back to us. To those that are new here, it’s about the Yankees. Sure it is. But somehow it’s about a hell of a lot more. It’s about life and how life should be instead of all of the tribes of humanity trying to figure out how to own everything. I got a text from Mike this morning and here he is, broke his pee bag this morning. You know what he’s worried about? My wife’s breathing, and a small lump that was found on her right breast. He’s praying for her, and he’s sincere. Says he needs to stop feeling sorry for himself…

Perhaps more because of the elevation, of course. I don’t want to move, but I’d like to for her. She insists she will not move. The lump is nothing until it’s something, if you get that. She went for a mamo and they saw a shadow. She went back and they still aren’t sure, so now they want to do another more intensive look. There is no current indication of any cancer or anything of concern, but we’ll go to great lengths to assure her health is okay. The hospital was supposed to call her for scheduling, but in the typical world of hospitals they claim not to have received the order from our doctor who is now on vacation. So there’s a bit of a delay until he gets back…
