I can tell you that the locals in Philly are not optimistic. They are very down on Embiid's history in big games. Typical Philly idiots. They should just look at +/- compared to when Embid is on or off the floor. Oh yeah. They know that. What they question is how he plays in deciding games. Maxey is the flavor of the month right now. I think the last guy they really loved was Iverson.

Rodon was dealing today but the O's are free swingers and got hold of a few.

McCann fouls off a FB, 0-1. Throw over, but Cowser gets back.
Not interesting at all, Coney, they NEED a power arm or two out there. Fb outside at 92. At 92-3 Marinaccio isn't a power arm. Slider low outside middle, rolled over to Cabrera, who starts a 5-4-3 DP. Torres did not double clutch or rush the throw, so the DP was turned.

Nothing changes for Torres. Though it will be charged as a "physical error", it was another "mental error" because he needed to get the out at second rather than thinking DP. His hitting will probably come around, but his baseball mentality will never come around. I think you might be right about that. They may have to take a lesser hitter, maybe at short, moving Volpe over, to get his mistakes off the team. They'll miss him to some extent, but they might be a better "team" for it. Change down and in is bounced off the bottom of Cowser's back foot for another HBP O's crowd boos the 3rd HBP off an Orioles foot. But looking ahead, we’ll all need a new whipping boy. Who will it be?…

Rodon's ERA jumps from 2.48 to 3.68. Ouch. Hopefully this was just a 2023 Rodon cameo and he gets back to looking better next outing. His stuff was better than last year. Of the three solo HRs, two came on pitches below the knees, just good hitting. In the 4 run 5th that just knocked him out, I think he was still competing until Torres bad decision knocked what left of the stuffing out of him. But yeah, this was a bad one, in a relatively key spot. Not good.

Who will it be?… All fans of all teams that are not title winners pick a whipping boy; nothing unique to Yankee fans. In a lot of cases, fans will pick on their best players, great players, for not being great enough. Torres is good player, above average by plenty, but his bad plays kill teams in the way that a bad closer kills them. I just look at Torres and a I see a mix of very good and very bad. The good wins games, the bad loses games, and in ways that games shouldn't be lost, not on champions. Torres takes a strike, then a ball. And then, he finally gets hold of a 2-2 FB down the middle hits it over the shorter wall in left center for a solo HR, 7-2 O's. And there's the Good Torres.

Verdugo draws a walk, still nobody out for Cabrera.

I just wonder how much better they would be if they could have found a way to keep Butler, instead of losing him and signing Tobias Harris to that absurd contract.

1-2 change away, hit sharply to the left of 2nd, but Henderson cuts it off, steps on 2nd, throws to 1st for another DP, 2nd of the game by Cabrera, and 38 in their first 33 games. 2 down, nobody on.

Michael Kay just said 38 DPs this year.. I assume they are on the way to some sort of record?
AL 1990 Boston Red Sox 174 DPs is the record.
Yanks have 38 in 33 games... Definitely on pace to break the record...
