Wells lifts and 0-2 FB to center for the 3rd out. Bottom 6, 7-2 O's. McKenna, then Back to the top for Henderson and Rutschman. I think the thing that annoys me about this O's team is that too many of them have long last names, which makes it harder for me to keep up with the PBP. I have no idea who the Name that Yankee is.

Oh yeah. They know that. What they question is how he plays in deciding games. Maxey is the flavor of the month right now. I think the last guy they really loved was Iverson. I like Maxey and he was a big time steal from where they drafted him. I just wonder how much better they would be if they could have found a way to keep Butler, instead of losing him and signing Tobias Harris to that absurd contract. Butler is a tough hombre. I was never quite sure why he didn't work out.

This team's situational hitting, outside of that 2 game explosion, has been absolutely dreadful this season.

Mullins PH for McKenna pops to Volpe, 1 down And the hint Kay just gave makes it obvious that the Name That Yankees is Tony Tarasco who was in right field when Jeffrey Mayer reached over the wall and interfered, turning a possible flyout into Jeter's crucial HR vs. the O's in the postseason.

Michael Kay just said 38 DPs this year.. I assume they are on the way to some sort of record? I believe he said the record is 174 by the Red Sox. So the Yankees are definitely on a pace to break it.

Henderson works the count to 2-2, then chases a change well out of the zone low/away for the K, 2 down.

1990 Boston Red Sox 174 DPs is the record Yanks have 38 in 33 games. Definitely on pace to break the record.

Rutschmann takes a FB down the middle. Slider misses low and away. Change waist high outside middle, and Rutschmann almost gets it, hits a high fly to fairly deep right, Soto turns clockwise, then spins counterclockwise to make an almost over the shoulder backhand grab, inning over.
Top 7, 7-2 O's.
Grisham, Volpe and Wells for the O's.

Excellent deductive reasoning Qwik. So glad review didn't exist back then. All part of Jeter's charmed life.

"The 1990 Red Sox finished first in the American League East with a record of 88 wins and 74 losses. It was the third AL East division championship in five years for the Red Sox. However, the team was defeated in a four-game sweep by the Oakland Athletics in the ALCS, as had been the case in 1988."
Maybe I am getting too down on the Yanks. They can break the DP record and still finish in first place, though I don't think 88 wins will get them to first.

Cutter outer 3rd, 0-1 Back to back sliders miss low/away, 2-1 Cutter in the zone down and in, 2-2 Coulombe in the game again for the O's. He got big outs for them in game 2 on Tuesday. Grisham guesses slider by count and location, and takes a FB low on the outside corner for the ꓘ, 1 down.
