FB down is ball 1. Slider down and in, but not down and in enough. below the knees by 2-3 inches, but Mountcastle golfs it deep to right center, and it carries out for a game tying HR, 1-1.

For the sake of the rules, since the YES booth clearly doesn't know the rules on thrown balls going out of play:
1 base is awarded from time of throw/pitch in this situation - a. A pitcher makes an attempt on a runner from a position engaged on the rubber. (Note: if he disengages and then throws the ball out of play, it is a 2 base award)
2 bases are awarded from the time of pitch in this situation - b. An infielder, making the first attempt at a play throws the ball out of play. (Ruling: If a shortstop throws a ball after the batter-runner has already reached first base but it is still the first attempt at a play, the award is made from time of pitch, not time of throw, so the batter-runner only gets second.)
2 bases are awarded from the time of throw in all other situations. The rule applies to the last legally acquired or passed base and there is no change if the runner is retreating.

Fb about 6 inches outside at the top, 1-0. FB outside, by 2 inches, but called a strike anyway. Good receiving by Wells to steal that call. FB up in the zone at 95, swung under.

Leaves the slider in a crushable spot down and in, but Westburg misses, fouls it off. Much better back leg slider, Westburg starts and tries to check, but the 1st base ump rings him up. K, inning over.
Top 4, tied at 1. 14 pitches for Rodon in the 3rd, and 48 through 3.
Verdugo, Cabrera and Wells for the Yanks.

1st pitch curve thigh high in the middle, hit hard to Mateo's left, he dives but can't stop it, goes into right. Leadoff single for Verdugo. Where was that your first time up, ya hump?

The ball out of play has some interesting differences among rule sets. OBR and NCAA rules allow runners to legally retouch bases once the ball becomes dead on an overthrow. NFHS (high school) does not. So, for example, if a runner is retreating to first to avoid being doubled off on a caught ball and that ball crosses an out of play line before he retouches first, he would be awarded third base, but is subject to being out on appeal and he cannot retouch once the ball becomes dead. It's one of the dumb high school rules where the runner is penalized for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

Curious why Boone went away from Verdugo fourth. That was a successful endeavor.

Cabrera takes a ball, then promptly erases the leadoff hit...gets a sinker down the middle but tops it to Mateo, who starts a 4-6-3 DP. 2 down, nobody on for Wells.

Slider gets a small piece of the corner down and in, not called. Sinker gets a small piece of the corner away not called, Might be 0-2, but it's 2-0 Slider misses down and in, 3-0 That cutting FB gets a small piece of the inside corner, and this one is called 3-1 Low curve is fouled off, 3-2 Sinker below middle, but Wells is late and under, flies to Cowser pretty much in his tracks in left, inning over.
Leadoff single comes to nothing, bottom 4, tied at 1.
Thanks to the DP, just 9 pitches for Bradish in the 4th, and 68 through 4. Mateo, Cowser and McCann for the O's in the 4th.

The Yankees lead MLB in GIDP. They and the Philadelphia Phillies are the only 2 teams in the top 10 with over .500 records.
