The Yanks are near the bottom in defensive DPs so fat this year, making our offensives DPs even more intolerable…

Sinker with good movement in, starts middle middle, runs to the inner 3rd and he fouls it down, 3-2 Throw over Greene goes for 2nd, and sinker down the middle, is grounded sharply to Volpe's right, but he backhands and throws out Canha. Green to 2nd with 2 down.

Tigers uncharacteristically starting runners. Must feel they can take advantage of Wells… who sucks at foul pop ups…

Those pop ups won’t win you gold gloves, but they can lose them for you. If only Wells had that to worry about…

The 2022 report on Perez says 40 prospect, 60 run, 50 field, 35/55 present/future hit too and little power. Apparently his power has improved because he's got 6 extra base hits and 3 HR already, and the Tigers have moved him to the #3 slot
Sinker for a strike Splitter popped foul, playable, but Wells misses it for an E-2. Splitter low, fouled, still 0-2 Slurve low 1-2 FB up in the zone spoiled, still 1-2. Splitter way low, but too fair in, and Perez drops the bat and hits a 5 iron to the corner in right, Stroman thinks it's trouble, but Soto tracks it down in the corner to end the inning. Stroman almost got nailed on a splitter that wound up about 6-8 inches below the knees
Bottom 3, 0-0 19 pitches for Stroman in the 3rd, 48 through 3.
Cabrera, then back to the top of the order for Volpe and Soto.

FB well high, Cabrera doesn't chase, 1-0. He bent back, but it wasn't close to him. Drops the slider into the top of the zone, 1-1 FB waist high, outside corner, fouled off, 1-2 Back leg curve taken, 2-2 Guesses slider or curve by count/location, frozen by a FB down and in but in the zone for the ꓘ, 1 down.

Sinker well low to Volpe, 1-0 Slider starts in the zone takes a left turn and misses outside, Rogers tries to pull it back, but no sale, 2-0 Sinker, thigh high, inside corner, 2-1 Slider low/away and again Volpe pulls off instead of going to right with it, misses, 2-2 FB waist high, outside corner, topped to Keith on the right side of 2nd, throws him out, 2 down.

Soto... Slider down and in, 1-0 Change in the zone, 1-1 Sinker at the knees, Soto takes, 1-2 Flies open, curve backs up and away, 2-2 Four pitches and four different pitches. Change at the low inside corner, spoiled Got a Sinker knee high in the middle, but was late and fouled it off. Change in the same spot, and Soto hits it hard towards the 34 hole, but Keith is playing there and barely stabs it almost behind him with a lunge to his left, wheels around and throws Soto out, inning over.

Yanks have hit 3 balls over 100 mph tonight, Soto has 2 of them
16 pitches for Olson in the 3rd, and 55 through 3.
Top 4, 0-0 Carpenter, Keith and Torkelson for the Tigers.

Even Soto is having difficulty squaring this pitcher up, but I think he’s had a good look at him now…
I wish Volpe would run more. With Soto and Judge up behind him they tend to keep him stationary and he windup the front end of double plays… just a thought…
