Canha... Cutter in the middle thigh high, 0-1 Curve outside, 1-1 Fouls off a FB up and in, 1-2 Schmidt starts and then breaks off the rubber. Pitch clock violation called, ball 2 Good cutter starts on the corner, breaks outside, swung on and missed, K.
Schmidt strikes out the side on 14 pitches, has 6 K's and is at 48 pitches through 3 innings.
Bottom 3, 1-1 Top of the order for the Yanks: Volpe, Soto, Judge.

Fb inner 3rd, Volpe pulls the Jeter phony jackknife maneuver, but the ump isn't fooled, 3-1 Fouls off a Fb on the outer 3rd, 3-2 Slider low over the middle, ball 4. Good job, Volpe.

FB down the middle, Soto takes it. 0-1 Splitter above the knees in the middle, hit hard through the 34 hole for a single to right, Volpe easily to 3rd with nobody out.

That's why I like Volpe at the leadoff spot, the speed to take that extra base when Soto or Judge gets a hit.

Slider way outside, Kelly has to lunge to backhand, 1-0 Great splitter fools Judge completely, dives below the zone, Judge swings well over it, 1-1 Fb is 6 inches low, 2-1 Probably trying to get Judge to top a splitter for his 11th. Not gonna happen. Splitter well inside and Judge is jammed a bit, muscles it toward the corner in left for a hit, Volpe scores, and Soto reads it perfectly goes right to 3rd without a throw, 2-1 Yanks!!! Judge pulled into 2nd with a double.

That's why I like Volpe at the leadoff spot, the speed to take that extra base when Soto or Judge gets a hit. One of the main reasons I do not miss D.J. LeMahieu. At this stage of his career, D.J. should be what we originally got him to be - a super substitute at second, third, and first.

Verdugo gets a splitter on the low outside corner, rolls over it weakly to Torkelson for the 1st out, Runners must hold.
