baez flied out to soto. cortes very solid through 5. 7Ks and only 71 pitches. now that it's an official game, can we call it ;-) Good thought, but not likely, bumper  |

More drying agent all over the infield this time.
They're getting this one in now unless the skies open up with a downpour.
Sorta surprised they're doing it in the middle of an inning, but the umps must've thought it became a hazard to the players.

Sinker above middle, Trevino tops it to Baez' right, ha backhands and throws out Trevino, 1 down.

Volpe tries to push a bunt to the right side to take advantage of Skubal falling off toward 3rd, but bunts foul

Volpe doesn't seem to have any clue against Skubal. Constantly off balance
FB on the high outside corner, bounced foul off 1st
FB waist high, outside corner, Volpe makes good contact, but started late and it's well foul off 1st
He's in between Skubal's FB and change, a bad place to be.
Chases a sinker about 3-4 inches above the outer half for the K
Let's see if Soto reads Skubal better the 3rd look at him.

Could've been two strikes or two balls, but it's 1 of each.
Big arm action change, Soto starts the bat, checks just at the front edge of home on the side view. 3rd base ump rings him up anyway, K, inning over.

Meadows, then back to the top as Ibanez and Vierling get their 3rd look at Cortes.
Sure glad the Yanks got a couple of runs of Skubal before he got locked in. He's hitting on all cylinders the last 3 innings. 9 K's for the game.
