Somebody teach these guys the fundamentals of running the bases! Soto with a great effort to get to first and knock in a run, only for another mental mistake on the bases by Gleyber.

Probably Volpe’s mistake taking third, but Gleyber of course is the guy in the run down.
Soto was hustling down that line though. He earned that hit…

Slider inside near the bottom 1-0.
Change over the middle, knee high, 1-1
Slider way inside lowbridges Soto 2-1
Curve inside near the same spot as the slider before, 3-1
Cutter in the same spot as the 1-0 change, at the knees in the middle, 3-2.
Soto takes his timeout
Slider on the low outside corner, and Soto bounces it toward 1st. Singleton flips to Arrighetti, but Soto beats the play, Rizzo scored, Volpe rups up Torres butt to 1st because Gleyber hesitated, and Torres gets in a rundown and is tagged out to end the inning.
Gleyber maybe should've scored, Have to check the replay if they show it, but the ball didn't get away, and he might have been out at home if he tried. Maybe Volpe went too far, thinking that Gleyber would score easily.
Anyway, Yanks get one run, and lead 3-1 on the infield single by Soto
Top 3, 3-1 Yanks.
29 pitches in the 2nd for Arrighetti and 41 through 2.

Not sure Gleyber is to blame there, the ball never got away, Volpe was too sharp and run up his butt. Have to see where Gleyber was when Arrighetti turner around with the ball. Dubon takes a ball then lines a cutter near middle over Volpe's leap for a leadoff single. |

Meyers misses a FB up, 0-1
FB misses outside at 95, called strike 2, 0-2. 3 inches outside I think.
FB same spot at 97, blown by Meyers for the K.

I'm not ashamed to say I liked "Garden Party." That’s a good song. I'm a big fan of Rick's when he wasn't doing the teen idol business. "It's Up To You" and "Hello Mary Lou" and "Travelin' Man" and "Lonesome Town" and " Anyone Else But You" and many others. He did a good job with "She Belongs To Me" too. OK, on the overhead infield shot, Torres was not running all out off 2nd. That's a mistake, but once he does that going for home is a worse blunder because he's out by plenty.
Volpe did what you should, ran all out on a grounder with 2 down, but that caused the tieup at 3rd that forced Gleyber into the rundown.
