I wonder how many combined seasons the Niekro brothers pitched in the big leagues? 22 for Joe, 24 for Phil and Joe's son Lance got 4 MLB seasons. Thanks, I for forgot about Lance. |

FB misses outside but called strike 2 anyway. I'd complain, but Stroman got worse pitches called strikes earlier.
Slider down the middle, but Wells doesn't get all of it, the Fliner to center is caught by Dubon, 1 down.

FB up, about 3-4 inches above the zone in the middle, foul tipped into the mitt, K, inning over.
Abreu does his job, gets 4 outs on just 20 pitches.
I'd think Espada goes to Pressly for the 8th, and if he holds, Hader for the 9th.
Top 8, 4-2 Astros.
Pena, Singleton and Bregman, probably against Dennis Santana in the 8th for the Astros.;

Unlike Soto, Volpe isn't disciplined enough. He should have not taken the 3-1 pitch which was right down the middle..

Volpe works the count 3-0, watches two fastballs down the middle then foul tips into the catcher's glove. Wasted opportunity with Soto on deck...now he'll lead off the 8th.

Unlike Soto, Volpe isn't disciplined enough. He should have not taken the 3-1 pitch which was right down the middle.. There are almost no other hitters as disciplined as Soto. Pena takes a strike. Slider away, pulled sharply, but right to Cabrera, who throws him out, 1 down. |

Misses the target which is why Wells doesn't get the call on the sinker that just missed the inside corner.
Then a pitch clock violation on the hitter, and Singleton is called out of strikes. I guess that goes as a ꓘ. 2 down.
