Bryan Abreu in for the Astros. Abreu having a so-so season so far, 22 K in 16 2/3 innings, but 4 HR allowed has led to his 4.32 ERA Basically a 2 pitch righty Slider 86 a little more than half the time FB upper 90's a little less than half. A very occasional change near 90, maybe one pitch every 6-7 innings. Slider above middle taken, 0-1 FB on the corner away, 0-2 on Torres Slider well low/outside, 1-2 Torres 0-1 with 2 BB vs. Abreu.

FB outside middle fouled off Slider near the corner outside, Torres tries to check, can't, might have gotten a piece of the zone anyway. OK, home plate ump didn't call the swing and it was about a 20% strike on Gameday anyway. K, inning over
Top 7, 4-2 Yanks. I know they're only down by 2, but if not for Volpe's cheap fly just fair into the Porch, this would be another shutout against them ongoing.

Atuve, Tucker and Alvarez vs. Weaver in the 7th.
FB at the knees is not low, Paulie, 50-50 on Gameday, 0-1 FB outside, 1-1 Cutter into the top fouled, 1-2 Change low away in the zone, and again, Altuve tries to pull, grounds it to Cabrera at 3rd for the first out.

Tucker see the wide open 3rd base side, squares to bunt, takes it outside, called strike 1 anyway. FB missed by 4 inches on Gameday. Change low. Coney talking in detail about IVB, induced Vertical break, something that's bit on Pitcher List website. Nick Pollack is a huge believer in it.
2-2 on Tucker. Chases a change low/away out of the zone, swing over, K, 2 down.

This Alvarez has never faced Weaver before. Pops the first pitch cutter inside goes over the screen behind home. Devastating change baffles Alvarez, chases it about 2 inches off the ground, outer half. 0-2 Takes a 2nd change but that one was too far outside to chase. Backs it up with a 3rd one, and it's also outside and he takes that one too. If you throw a 4th one, it has to be over home, but outer 3rd and low

Shows him a FB outside by 6-8 inches and Alvarez ignores it, 3-2 Change starts near middle, Alvarez stares at it, and it catches the outer 3rd for the ꓘ. Inning over.
After the strikeout pitch, Alvarez took a funny look at him. I'm reading minds, it seemed like he was saying. OK, you got me with that one that time, but if you ever try that again on two strikes, I'm putting it into orbit.
Bottom 7, 4-2 Astros. Wells, Cabrera and Volpe for the Yanks, probably against Abreu to start with.
