Gresham works a walk to load the bases, passing the baton to Volpe. Hopefully he'll do some damage.

Is there any other pitching coach that visits the mound as often as Snyder…

I guess Jorge Posada is still teaching base running for the Yankees.

Bases loaded, two down for Volpe. Rays have a mound visit to give Littell a break here.
Volpe chases a FB up and in, fouls it off. Littell gave him the pitch he wanted, but not in the location he wanted. Slider outside, Volpe serves it to center to the left of 2nd for a hit, Rizzo and Wells both score, but Grisham goes to far around 2nd, they throw behind him, get him in a rundown and tag him out to end the inning.
If you're going to play little and get on base even less, you can't kill innings with baserunning errors, too, Grisham
The teams exchange rally-killing TOOTBLANS, and it's 2-1 Yanks, going bottom 2nd.
20 pitches for Littell in the 2nd, 37 through 2 Ramirez, DeLuca and Caballero for the Rays in the 2nd.

I guess Jorge Posada is still teaching base running for the Yankees. It is astounding how often this occurs.

I'm sure Rizz is interested this. Paul Skenes just made his major league debut against the Cubs. The first hitter he faced was our old friend, Mike Tauchman and he struck him out on a 101 MPH fast ball. Struck out the next guy, walked Bellinger and then gave up a 390+ flyout to dead center to Chris Moral. Congrats to Skenes, he's a major leaguer and will bring some excitement to an organization that certainly needs it. He's a great prospect. I worked my team into the 2nd slot in our minor league draft, hoping to grab him or Dylan Crews of the Nats. but Skenes separated himself from Crews in the spring and the guy ahead of me took him. Then I went off chalk and took infielder Matt Shaw of the Cubs instead of Crews. I'd never seen him pitch before until that 1st inning, since I don't watch college baseball. He easily gets his fastball to triple digits, no effort at all.

Ramirez... FB down the middle, strike 1. FB way high, 1-1 Cutter inside jams him a bit, he flies to Grisham in center, 1 down.

Cutter inside, 1-0 FB way up/away 2-0 Cutter might have gotten a tiny piece of the high inside corner, not called, 3-0 FB waist high outer 3rd, 3-1 Cutter into the top of the zone, 3-2 Cutter near the same spot, spoiled FB overthrown way high, ball 4. 7 pitch walk for DeLuca, man on 1st, 1 down.

Johnny DuLuca walks. Exactly, what the Godfather predicted.

Cortes has no command of his FB right now. Misses high with one, then another. 2-0 on Caballero So he bends a cutter into the zone, near middle, 2-1 FB inside just below the top, Caballero is late and under, fouls it off. 2-2 Cutter into the top of the zone, Caballero is late and under, K's, 2 down.

Jackson up. Somehow misses a FB just above middle, swung under, 0-1 Chases a FB at the very top, fouls it off, 0-2 Burns a FB by him on the outside corner at 92, waist high, ꓘ, inning over.
Top 3, 2-1 Yanks. 18 pitches for Cortes in the 2nd, 31 through 2.
Soto, Judge, Verdugo for the Yanks in the 3rd.
