I'm sure Rizz is interested this. Paul Skenes just made his major league debut against the Cubs. The first hitter he faced was our old friend, Mike Tauchman and he struck him out on a 101 MPH fast ball. Struck out the next guy, walked Bellinger and then gave up a 390+ flyout to dead center to Chris Moral. Congrats to Skenes, he's a major leaguer and will bring some excitement to an organization that certainly needs it. He's a great prospect. I worked my team into the 2nd slot in our minor league draft, hoping to grab him or Dylan Crews of the Nats. but Skenes separated himself from Crews in the spring and the guy ahead of me took him. Then I went off chalk and took infielder Matt Shaw of the Cubs instead of Crews. Skenes is the whole package at 21 years old. Natural leader, intelligent, hard worker, tough, attention to detail. Three shutout innings, two hits, two walks, four strikeouts thus far against the Cubs.

107.8 on the Soto grounder, if anyone cares. Judge takes a slider at the bottom of the zone, 0-1 Splitter low, 1-1 FB on the zone thigh high near the corner inside, he's late and fouls it off, 1-2 Slider goes across the plate to the outer 3rd, but Judge misses, pops it foul behind 2st, Diaz goes back and makes a nifty over the shoulder catch in foul ground, 2 down.

Verdugo misses a FB down the middle, 0-1 Slider gets a tiny piece of the zone down and in, not called, 1-1 Verdugo jammed by a cutter turning inside, pops it high to right, easy play for DeLuca, inning over.
Bottom 3, 2-1 Yanks. 9 pitch 1-2-3 for Littell against Soto, Judge and Verdugo. Not a stellar performance by the "good" hitters there. Littell at 46 pitches through 3 now.
Siri, then back to the top for Diaz and Arozarena for the Rays in their 3rd.

FB well high, ball 1 to Siri FB even higher, 2-0
Cortes must be doing something wrong mechanically, his FB is off target by a lot 80% of the time and the velo is sitting 89.5 to 90. Either that, or he's hurt again.
FB high again and not close, 3-0 FB at the top taken, 3-1 FB same spot, fouled off, 3-2 FB misses just outside as he tries to do to Siri what he did to Caballero last inning, but missed Leadoff walk to the guy batting in front of Diaz? Not good, Nestor.

Nestor should just walk Diaz.

FB outside, ball 1 Cutter outside, 2-0 Cutter high, 3-0 Cutter down the middle, but Diaz takes it, 3-1. Was expecting him to swing there but he didn't Fb near the top, fouled off, 3-2 Throw over on Siri. Cutter at the knees inner 3rd, Diaz drops the bat and hammers it toward the corner in left, off the wall, Verdugo plays the carom perfectly, but can't stop Diaz from getting a double on it, 2nd and 3rd, nobody out, and Nestor is in trouble.

1st pitch FB just outside middle, and Arozarena jumps on it, belts it out to right center, 3 run HR makes it 4-2 Rays.
I know a lot of the Rays in the lineup have good records vs. Nestor, but Arozarena isn't one of them. And now I'm worried he's hurt again.

Paredes takes a slider outside, then wallops a FB above middle toward the corner in left for a hit, Verdugo cuts it off, holds it to a single.

I know it's a small sample size, but Nestor's home/road splits are not good. Coming into the game, his home ERA was 1.59, while on the road it's 6.75.
