Slider hangs high above the zone, Siri, down by 6, chases it for a strike anyway. Kinda stupid aggressive there, Siri Fouls off a change down and in, 0-2 FB inner half above waist, jams him a bit, his sharp grounder to the right side is fielded by Torres playing it on the side again, throws him out, inning over.
6-0 Yanks, going top 6.
15 pitch 1-2-3 for Gil in the 5th, despite the 8 pitch battle with Rortvedt and 73 through 5.
Torres, Berti and Trevino for the Yanks in the 6th.

Gil starting to look a little more comfortable. Five shutout innings at 73 pitches.

THAT'S the Rortvedt that I'm used to seeing. Rays will turn a struggling player into something useful, as usual Torres gets a meatball, 87 FB above and inside of middle, but fouls it off. Pops the 2nd pitch to Diaz, 1 down.

No idea who the Name that Yankee is. Have to go looking.
Berti falls behind 0-2, then gets a cutter waist high, inside corner, hits a looping liner to left, but it hangs up, and DeLuca charges hard, makes a diving catch, 2 down.

Trevino goes after a 1st pitch FB up in the zone, hits a high pop near home, Rortvedt battles the stupid, roof, floats down the 3rd base line a bit, then has to make a lunging catch at the last moment, inning over.
Bottom 6, 6-0 Yanks. 6 pitch 1-2-3 for Alexander, 76 through 6. He can go maybe 8-9 innings at that pace...and give up 8-9 runs.
Top of the order for the Rays: Diaz, Lowe and Arozarena in their half of the 6th.

Slider above the knees near middle, Diaz hits it well, but the fly to medium deep center is handled by Judge, 1 down. 1 pitch, 1 out.

Nelly is wrong again. Skenes left the game yesterday with two men on in the fifth, no outs, having given up one run to that point. One of the two runners got on with an infield single. The reliever came in and got two quick outs, then allowed both runners to score. Skenes charged with three earned runs and seven strikeouts in four innings pitched. Pittsburgh has not been allowing Skenes to pitch more than three to four innings in the minors - just a weird way to handle a starting pitcher. The guy is a horse, much like Gerrit Cole.

Just got caught up with this game via dvr. Yankees hitting with authority as Gil is on a roll pitching with efficiency.

Lowe... FB inside corner, strike 1 Change low over the middle, 1-1 FB inside at the knees, 2-1 FB inside makes him jackknife, 3-1 FB down and in at 97, fouled off, 3-2 FB an inch or two high than the last, lined past a diving Rizzo down the RF line into the corner for a leadoff double. Soto got to the carom off the kickwall into the corner to keep it from being a triple.

FB in the zone up and in for a strike, 0-1 on Arozarena Change bounced, 1-1 Swings over a change at 93 in the middle, knee-high, 1-2 FB clips the inside corner above the waist, ꓘ Arozarena not happy with the call, but it was 30% on Gameday

Paredes might be Gil's last hitter.
Fb high, 1-0 Change down in the zone in the middle, 1-1 Change gets a good piece of the low outside corner, not called, 50% on Gameday, 2-1 Slider hangs inside corner waist high, and Paredes jumps on it, lines it hard but foul Change misses away, 3-2 Change in the zone low/away, spoiled.
Burdi warming.
