Odd game. Only 3 Ks for Gil. The usually stellar pen was shaky. Lightweights were launching home runs left and right.
But a W is a W.

Slider in a terrible spot down and in, the drop the bat happy zone, but he pulls it hard and well foul down the line in right
Another bad slider waist high, middle in, pulled high and foul down the right side.
Flies open and misses with a FB well high and a big outside, taken, 1-2
Perfectly located 97 FB hits the low outside corner, Palacios fooled and takes it for the ꓘ, game over!
Yanks win 10-6, to get back to 12 games over at 27-15, and win their 3rd straight series since losing 3 of 4 to the O's, they've won 7 of 9 since then.

Yanks win and take the series. Gain a game on the Rays and Jays, but not the Sox. Should gain a game on the O's, too.
Assuming the D'backs hold their big lead, the Yanks are back to 1/2 game behind the O's, 5 ahead of the Red Sox, 6 1/2 up on the Rays, and 8 up on the Jays.
Gil moves to 4-1 with a 2.51 ERA, and right now, he's pitching the best on the starting staff.

3rd star of the game: Torres for the huge response HR, killing the momentum the Rays got from their 5 run uprising in the 7th.
2nd star: Trevino for 2 big HRs and 3 RBI, and handling Gil well, and coaxing Weaver through his jitters in the 7th to barely hang on to the lead.
1st star: Gil, for 6 shutout innings without either his best stuff or his best command, allowing the Yanks to build the big lead, just barely enough to keep Boone and the relievers from blowing all of it back.
