Yanks get a day off tomorrow, then move on to Minnesota to play a Twins team that has been red-hot for weeks. After taking 3 of 4 in Seattle and 2 of 3 in Toronto, they've come back from a bad 6-13 start to play better than .800 ball the last 3 weeks or so, winning 17 of 20.
1st game is 7:40 pm, unfortunately on Prime Delayed Video, so another game I'll be 2-4 pitches behind on. Carlos Rodon faces Chris Paddack, who's 4-1 with a 4.34 ERA this year, He's pitched 3 very good games in the last 4, allowing 0 or 1 runs.
2nd game is 7:40 pm on, back on YES. Marcus Stroman faces Twins' ace Pablo Lopez, who's straightened things out after a bit of a rough start. He's won 3 in a row, including back to back 6 inning starts of 1 run in his last 2 games. He's 4-2 on the season, and his ERA is down from 4.83 to 3.89.
The series finale is 1:10 pm matinee, also on YES. Clarke Schmidt, who's pitched very well lately, will face Joe Ryan. Ryan is just 2-2 on the season, but has the best ERA in their rotation at 3.21.
All three Twins starters against the Yanks have outstanding K/BB ratios this year: Paddack is 37/8 in 7 starts, Lopez is 55/8 in 8 starts, and Ryan is 53/6 in 8 starts, so the Yankees' hitters will have to earn their runs.
Ok, series preview done, so I'm checking notifications.
Forgot the Knicks were playing this afternoon, and the Paces are crushing them, up 73-41 early in 3rd quarter.

OK, notifications checked, and I'll think I'll watch the Knicks sink as the band on the deck plays "Nearer My God To Thee".
Enjoy the off-day tomorrow, and I'll "see" you all back here Tuesday evening for the first game in Minnesota. Good afternoon to all of you. Bye.

Nice to survive the implosion. Dr. Longball to the rescue. Remember when fans used to complain that all the Yankees did was hit HR's?

My dance card was pretty full today, so I didn't get to see this one, but as always I checked in here for the blow by blow and expert commentary. I still think that Qwik is a composite of three or four people posting under one label, but I'm most appreciative for it.

That's the day the arms went out in Tampa That's the day they couldn't find an innocent strike Well, don't trust your starter to no laid-back goof manager Cause Ba-Boone's in town's and warms-up the wrong man Vicki Lawrence rides again.

on vacation somewhere Ren? Mini-vacation. Wife and I spending a few days in Manteo, NC. Outer Banks for you that don't know. What a wonderful town. The Lost Colony! Manteo is just enough off the Kill Devil Hills/Duck axis for a respite during the summer crowds, but you're there at an ideal time. I love the OBX. My aunt and uncle spent half the year near Salvo back in the 70s and 80s and 90s, so I got to know the area pretty well. Great for birding and fishing and hang-gliding and of course the ponies and the Wright Brothers. I hope you're having a good getaway Ren, although I guess living in NC you're pretty familiar with all of it.

I’d admonish you like I did JE, but I’ve learned that world safety is more important than baseball games… carry on Pipps? Keep humanity at bay. It appears to be getting harder and harder for you to control 8 billion people each day…

Humanity will just have to muddle through.

Used to go fishing at Hatteras when I was younger and loved it as well. Didn't really care if we caught any fish, just sit and watch the ocean. I'm really not a beach person, but sometimes it is soothing. I need to start fishing again.

Unless it's changed a lot, it is so peaceful and you can just feel your blood pressure lowering. Even quieter are Portsmouth Island and Knotts Island, which you can reach by ferry from Ocracoke. North Carolina has a great ferry system. Now you've got me wanting to get back. Glad you're enjoying Manteo Ren.

I may be wrong but I see the Twins as being a little bit like the Tigers were when we played them. A bit light on offense, albeit with a couple big bats. The pitching is solid but isn’t likely to dominate. Pretenders more than contenders. The Tigers were 18-13 when the met up with us. Now, they’re 21-20. Very winnable series, time for the Twins to play down to their level…
