Well, it's game over, but the Yanks got a big break Slider misses outside by 3 inches, called strike 3 anyway. Terrible call there and Pham complains to the ump, rightly so. Me?? I take it and run to the win back and deposit this W.
Yanks win 4-2, their 5th in a row and 11th of 13. They're now a season high 16 games over .500 at 31-15

I like Pham...always been a solid contributor. j As a player, he’s punched above his weight and that’s a compliment… Cardinals kinda screwed him...kept him buried in the minors.

OK, Yanks win 4-2, get to 31-15. Keep pace with the O's, who hammered the 1st place Mariners, 9-2. Jays got 3 in the 8th, and the game has gone bottom 9, with the Rays up 4-3. Cards lead the Sox 4-3 bottom 5 in St. Louis.
If the scores hold, Yanks are 1 game up on the O's, 7 up on the Rays, 8 1/2 up on the Sox, and 10 1/2 up on the Jays.

3rd star of the game: Judge, with the HR in the 1st to give the Yanks the early 1-0 lead, 3 BB and another run scored. 2nd star: Stanton, with the RBI double in the 4th, and the solo blast in the 6th. He's 9 for 21 in his last 5 games with 2 HR and 4 RBI, and just 2 K's. In his last 31 starts, he's hitting .267 with 5 doubles, 9 HR, 23 RBI. Only blemish is his low BB rate. Just 9 in his last 133 PA, with 39 K's. He's slugging .524 in that stretch. 1st star: Nestor, who threw a nifty 7 innings, showing off the change to excellent effect. 5 hits, 1 unearned run, just 1 BB and 6 K's to get his 2nd win.

Game 2 of this series is tomorrow is at 1:07 pm on YES. Brad Keller being inserted into the rotation for the 2nd time this year after two recent long relief appearances, will throw for the White Sox. Yanks will counter with Luis Gil, 4-1 with a 2.51 ERA (that would be 9th in the AL if he had enough innings to qualify) looking for his 4th straight outstanding start.
Now, I'll check my notifications.
