Just got home. Looks like Gil did his job. I love the fact there's 19 pages on a Sat. afternoon game thread. Thanks to all who make the game threads so fun and interesting! Thank you, I do my best to just fill up the pages with what I see, and whatever other strange things come into my head. I know, I know, there's everyone else. But mostly me.

Benintendi... FB in the zone down and in, 0-1 Change outside, 1-1 Change well outside 2-1 FB about 3 inches outside, chases and fouls it off 2-2 Change starts at the corner away, dives low and outside, chases it for the K, 2 down. 13 K's for Gil. Too bad Boone almost certainly won't give him a chance to chase down Guidry's 18 K's.I was thinking the same thing. Great minds think alike. Also mediocre minds, sometimes.

Depends on what Cohen will do, 89. If he offers $60 million a year for 12 years, Yanks won't match it. They might match it if it's a contract like Ohtani signed. But will they allow the Yanks to get away with that? And what if Cohen says "damn the torpedoes" and signs him to a straight contract with nothing deferred?

I'm starting to think my 88 win total prediction may end up being a tad low. Yeah, I had them at 87-90 too. BEFORE Cole got hurt. After, I had them at 85 wins. Knew the offense would be considerably better than last season, thanks to Soto and Verdugo, if nothing else. Had no idea Stanton would recover at least half his old game at bat. And I and stunned at how good the starting pitching has been, and at how well the bullpen has held up. Was worried about Rizzo and a bit about Volpe and Wells, but they're clicking on almost all cylinders so far. And my worry about LeMahieu has been covered by Cabrera and Berti doing OK. It's less than 1/3 of the season, but it's more impressive than even their unreal first 90 games in 2022, which was smoke and mirrors to a large extent. No one could have predicted that the starting pitching would be this good, especially without Cole.

I think Matt Blake deserves a raise.

I don't think they can change the rules until the next bargaining agreement, but if I'm Soto, I'm not taking a lot of deferred money. He doesn't make the endorsement revenue that Ohtani does.

No one wants to brand him there because if he moves on it loses the “punch”…
