Soto fouls off a FB just above and inside middle, 0-1
FB outside, 1-1
Slider low over the inner half, 2-1
Nice backdoor slider goes low, Soto lunges and swings over. Was fooled, thought it was a FB.
FB inside, makes Soto backpeddle a couple of steps, 3-2

We might see Tonkin this game. He hasn't pitched in about a week. Right you are, chi. Slider at the knees near middle, Soto early, bounces it foul off of 1st. Same FB as the first pitch just above and inside middle, and Soto hammers it down first, but Vaughn backhands, takes it to the bag, inning over. Top 7, 7-2 Yanks. 7-8-9 for the White Sox in the 7th: Remillard, Mendick and Maldonado to face Tonkin in relief of Rodon. It's mop-up work for Tonkin, who hasn't pitched in about a week. |

Tonkin last pitched 8 days ago, an inning vs. the Rays in a 7-2 loss.
FB high to Remillard, 1-0
Sinker waist high outside corner, 1-1
Sinker a bit lower, but also on the corner, 1-2
Slider gets a piece of the low outside corner, not called, 2-2, 25% on Gameday
Slider up in the zone, hit high toward the corner in left, Verdugo lopes over, catches, 1 down.

Hammers the next pitch down 3rd, rolls around the corner a bit, Verdugo recovers and holds it to a 1-out double.

Gets a slider just outside and below middle, grounds it to Volpe, who holds Mendick, throws him out, 2 down.

And while Tonkin delivers ball 4, the ump calls a balk fore not looking at the hitter before starting his motion.
So the walk is pulled down, Mendick to 3rd, 3-2 count on Pham
Slider inside corner bounced foul off 3rd.
Slider in the middle, but Pham doesn't do sliders, misses the cookie, topping it to Berti at 3rd, his low throw is scooped up nicely by Rizzo for the 3rd out.
White Sox would've had 1st and 2nd with 2 down for Vaughn, but the balk took that down, and he gets a ground out to get out of it.
Bottom 7, 7-2 Yanks.

Sox lead the Cards 9-3 going top 9 in St. Louis.
M's get two in the 7th, trail the O's 5-3 bottom 7 at Camden Yards.
Alex Manoah appears to be back, throwing a 1 hitter through 7 with 7 K's, and the Jays lead the Rays 5-0 in the 8th in Toronto.
