Sinker misses below the inside corner at 95, 1-0
GOOD sinker with two plane movement down/away to the knees outer half, Raley tries to pull it, rolls it toward the 34 hole, but Torres fields it on the side like he does (sigh), wheels and throws to 1st to end the inning.
Just two pitches to get the last out in the 8th, so Holmes should be good for the 9th.
Bottom 8, still 5-0 Yanks.
Trevino, then back to the top for Volpe and Soto for the Yanks in their 8th.

A lot has changed in 2 days. Winning brings good feelings. One of the highest paid players in the game needs to be taken out for a PR in the 7th. W If you mean Stanton, it's because he can't run and it's late in the game... |

Bazardo in to pitch.
Slider down and in, 1-0
Sinker tails outside, 2-0
Slider even more down and in 3-0
FB clips the top of the zone, 3-1
Same FB inner 3rd, and Wells goes after it, pops to Urias at 3rd, 1 down.
I'd like to say the call on the 3-0 forced Wells to swing there, but the count was 3-1 and he wasn't forced to chase that pitch.

Slider just outside middle, Soto takes, shakes his head for not going after it, 1-1
Slider well low, 2-1
FB above middle, Soto tops it to Moore, throws him out, inning over.
Top 9, Yanks up 5-0.
Holmes goes back out to try to close it out against the Mariners' 4-5-6 hitters: Garver, Haniger and Rodriguez.
Should have at least 20-25 pitches to play with.

94 sinker on the low inside corner, 0-1 on Garver.
Good dropping sinker inside middle below the knees, swung over, 0-2
Another sinker in more or less the same spot, but at knees, Garver on it, smacks it up the middle for a leadoff sinker.
For once I agree with Todd, no reason to give him the sinker in the zone on 0-2.

Chases a slider well outside at the knees, 0-2
Slider drops in or above the high inside corner, looked like a ball, called strike 3 anyway, ꓘ, 1 down.
Gameday confirms it was 2 inches high, bad call, but I take it and run to the ꓘ bank.

Let's hope Gil does end up in the bullpen when Cole returns. If no injuries occurs, I suspect it comes down to Schmidt or Gil
