Brito stays in for the Padres. Change at the knees, swung over. Change well low over the middle, taken 1-1 FB tails to the inside corner at 97, fouled off 1-2 Swings early on a change away, pulls of it and misses for the K, 1 down.

Uh oh. Not what you want to see in the 9th inning of a blowout. Berti down and hurting.

Berti.. Sinker inside, ball 1 Sinker inside, ball 2 Fb near the corner away, taken, 2-1 Sinker outer 3rd, taken, 2-2 FB outside, waist high, tapped Arraez, and Berti crumples to the ground halfway from home as Arraez takes it to the bag for the 2nd out. Trainer and Boone out there, and Berti hasn't gotten up yet. Looks like DJ is coming off the DL right on time. A shame for Berti, he's a valuable bench guy.

Just had to look and see Twins then Indians, then Yankees and 390 career HR, I'd have gotten that easily. That 390 was a sure giveaway. Yeah, pretty much.

Volpe... Slider outside, 1-0 Change low and away, 2-0 Sinker inside, 3-0 FB misses barely low on the inner 3rd, ball 4. Gameday thinks it was a 10% strike, but no call for Brito.

Soto is amazing. HR, double, and a walk tonight.

Soto gets a 1st pitch FB above middle, lines a vicious shot into the corner in left for a 2 out double, hit so hard, and the carom went right to Tatis, so even Volpe couldn't score with 2 outs.

sinker high to Judge, 1-0 Sinker barely misses outside, but called a strike anyway. Bad call, but close to the zone. 1-1 FB up and in and Judge has to duck out of the way, gets away from Campusano back the screen for a wild pitch, Volpe scores, Soto to 3rd with 2 down, 8-0 Yanks.

Cahnge bounced, 3-1 Change inside corner, swung over, 3-2 Fb waist high, outside middle, Judge grounds it right to Kim, throws him out, inning over.
Bottom 9, 8-0 Yanks. Last licks (we hope) for the Padres: Tatis, Jr., Profar and Machaado.

Storm Chasers games are always a blast. Minor League baseball in general is fun (and affordable!). We've been very fortunate; when we lived in Colorado Springs, we were less than a mile from the now defunct Colorado Springs Sky Sox's Security Services Field, so we'd go to several games a year. We built are new house in 2020 practically across the street from Werner Park here in Papillion, so we take the girls to about a game a month during the season and have a blast. Minor League parks are so much more intimate than their MLB counterparts. The Storm Chasers are mostly stocked with AAAA players this seasons so far. I don't follow the Royals closely enough to know where they're currently stashing their top prospects, but the Chasers' roster is mostly stocked with older guys (older in "prospect years" LOL, 25 and up). Nice! Most important question, How's the food there? It's not on par with MLB offerings, but there is a good local BBQ joint in the concession area, and the hot dogs are solid (with good ballpark mustard, which is key).
